It's true though, can't do **** all about noisy neighbours. At my old place we had drug fuelled music students upstairs, I kid you not 3-4 days of the week 10pm till 8am hard thumbing bass, the same song OVER and OVER and OVER.
Tried asking them to turn it down, but they didn't. Got the door slammed in my face.
Went to the estate agents who did nothing. Went to the council who sent people round to witness the noise, they had to come around about 4-5 times before they sent them a letter asking them to stop making noise. Didn't help. So they sent them a noise abatement. Didn't help and worst they would get is a slap on the wrist.
One solution that worked... we moved out.
If I was a less moral person... well, I'd have done some horrible things to them with a smile on my face.
Quite simply put, you pay high amounts of rent not for a nice place. You pay for more considerate and mature neighbours. Or get lucky.
