Hello,

I have been struggling with this question from a few days now and from what I found HD6970 x2 in Crossfire beats GTX570 x2 in SLI, something like with 4-8fps... 10 in few cases and they both cost exactly the same.

The thing is that I would like to get 3D monitor and Nvidia 3D Vision kit, I don't understand how 3D with ATI works, heard that they need specific monitors to run 3D and it is more complicated.

Personally I put 3D over these few fps, but I need to see other opinions.
I would be grateful if you could help me with my choice, thanks!

You need third party drivers to make 3d function with AMD hardware.

Me personally, if I was playing at a very high resolution then I would probably go with 6970CF (2gb ram should come in handy). On the other hand, if I was to use 1920x1200 (current res) or lower, then I'd opt for two 570's.

+1. Along side the fact that you would need other drivers to get 3D / SLi to go with the AMD hardware like arc@css said, I personally would go for the dual 6970's, PhysX isn't that amazing to be honest and plus the 6970s CF and more performance.

6970 = 176GB/s Bandwidth
570 = 152GB/s Bandwidth

Crossfire two 6970s and against 570 SLi you will be getting at least another 48GB/s of Bandwidth which is roughly the power of a GT 240 ;P

why not 3 480's the ones on ocuk are cool and quiet and are cheaper for same performance

Big +1 to this if you can afford it :P These bad boys run at somewhere around 170GB/s each so 3 of them.. jesus XD

So if I will install these drivers I just need 3D glasses? Or something else?

I will buy this monitor which is only 1920x1080 and I am not planning to go for any larger.

Motherboard that I am going to get is Asus Sabertooth and it has only 2x PCI-Express.

I don't care for Physx, all I care for is 3D and then performance. If I could run 3D without any problems on 6970s I would already order them, but I don't know how it works so I am still confused.

Some people say go for HD6970 CF, some say GTX570 SLI.

Okay guys, I will go for GTX570 in SLI then. Will these cards last for three years? I wish to know, at the moment my HD4870 works very well with almost every game on highest settings and I wonder if I it is gonna be the same with GTX570's

Which brand of GTX570 do you recommend? I was thinking of getting Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II or maybe one of the EVGAs. Maybe Gainward Golden Sample or the PNY one. Or different. Which would you recommend?

I have 2x 6950>70's, which scales better than 570 sli.

In this instance though imho, if it's the least amount of effort required to play 3D, then it's got to be Nvidia.

It works straight out the box without any third party(and extra cost) software involved.

You should be fine with a quality 850w supply. I run 2 470's in a heavily overclocked system without issues.

It's a XFX Black Edition 850W. I am planning to do some hard OC on my system, and I am worried that 850 can be not enough. Who knows if I will add additional HDDs or use all of the usb ports, install lots of fans in my case etc.
