Confrunted with 2 men in ski masks!

If they were the type committed enough to stand and bang they probably wouldn't have run off like little girls just because some bloke opened the blinds. They want to get in, get the keys and get out. The ones willing to risk a stretch for aggravated burglary and GBH in the process are the exception rather than the rule.

They had yet to reach the point of no return and probably bottled it when they were spotted that little bit to early increasing the risk to them slightly and so they live to try another night until it goes perfectly. Were they going to attempt a sneaky way of taking it or forceful one, we shall never know.

It makes me so angry that this is the type of thing that we need to do these days even in nice areas of the country to keep our property safe..

It's not just these days, this has been a common occurrence since man learnt to walk. People say things like that makes me think they are under the impression that during the 50's-80's there weren't any hardened criminals targeting innocent hard working good British folk.

I keep an air rifle under my bed, it looks scarier than it is lol!

But I often bring flash cars home, and if someone wanted to nick it I'd let them have it.

Rather that then let him and his mate take turns kicking my head in or even my missus!

I'd echo MrSix's comments, perhaps with the exception of the trackers (unless you have special virtually irreplaceable cars you may rather have an insurance payout).

Can you buy those machine gun cameras from Metal Gear Solid yet?

The only difference now is that you hear about things that happen much easier over the internet. In the 90's I personally knew two people who had cars stolen yet now we all have much better cars than then and none have been stolen for 15-20 years.

I remember one halloween there was a thread here about car vandalism a mile or so away from where I live, I wouldn't have even known about that if it wasn't for Overclockers!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not under the impression that car theft has miraculously increased in the last 10 years. But car security has which is why your car is no longer just nicked off your drive with a coat hanger and a screwdriver while you sleep - instead you're now faced with armed criminals who are willing to threaten or even get physical to get your car keys from inside your own home.

If I knew that my car would just be nicked off my drive while I slept and I'd only find out about it in the morning when I woke up, with all my teeth still in my mouth and my fingers unbroken - I wouldn't bother with the amount of security I have on my house.

As it stands, I know first hand that people are willing to enter my home in order to find the keys to the cars on my drive - that's why I now have increased security measures.

This is why we cant have nice things...

Tbh if you have premium cars you should be having premium security and storage for them, makes me laugh when people have £50k cars and leave them parked on the road/drive over night

Hey, thanks for all the replies. Just having a read back through what everyone has been saying. We're going to look at definitely getting some collapsible posts in the ground, disc locks on the cars, etc. Anything that can slow them down I think is the way to go. Scum.

Pillars cut off in the front, rear also cut of means it will never have the same structure in case of a crash.

In theory you could probably do it, I've heard of cases where they made a car from two pieces. I wouldn't drive a car like that though.

No way would that go back together, most of the chassis is missing. Even if you could (which would cost a fortune to do), I wouldn't like to be in an accident in it.

Insurers did not pay so the eventual sale of the recovered parts will be the only money back for the car.

Harsh but leaving the keys in the car = fail, they could have taken the keys from her instead and the insurance would have paid out. :o
