im really tempted to get those beats by dre what do you guys think

so many people have them at my uni and i tested a pair and the sound was amazingly good

the most popular are the studio beats only a few people have the solo's.

so whatcha reckon ;)

If you look over at head-fi you will see that they are universally mocked for poor sound quality. You would be better off spending the same money on some Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic headphones.

The beats by dre trick you into thinking that quantity of bass is quality, and have pretty poor mids and treble.

As sHo0sH mentioned, they are quite widely criticised on audio forums for poor/average sound quality

If you like the beats then get them, but I think they are a bit of a fashion statement more than anything. I looked into getting some beats IEMs but ended up going for Sennheisers and im glad I did

80% of the price you pay for them is for the brand name and fashion statement that comes with that.

I know this because you can get the same quality from other respectable brands for 20% of the price.

If you do actually like the bloated bass, recessed mids and scratchy treble, just get something like the Sony XB300 or XB500, much cheaper and still fashionable.

as stated above. purely a fashion icon, this is why I have my UE 700's and everyone doesn't understand why I don't have beats, they just are lacking on the sound quality :p

The Solos and Studios are mediocre. The HDs might be better, but I didn't get to listen to them with my own music. Not worth the RRP!

Ive had my beats studio for about a yr now and yes they are expensive for what they are but thats not my problem with them...ive been through 3 pairs now and all three have had build issues ie the headband on the studios fold but what happened with mine is that the hinge on the headband got loose and then broke.

Of course i have had them replaced and my 4th pair are much more solid in build...they have slightly fixed the hinge problem i think.

But i love them and the sound for me is about right...but then im no stuck up snobby audiophile...as long as i have my bass im good:p.

But i will say this about the Studios....look after them properly, they come with a case and i suggest using the case to keep them in when you arent using them...

Ive decided to buy a decent pair of in ear headphones now and just using my studios for indoors.

I've had my beats my dre for a few months now, although I didn't pay retail price I got them a bit cheaper I can't fault them. Sure they look flashy and such but the sound quality from them is awesome, not to mention they're very comfortable.

Dre-branded = Dre-priced.

Do yourself a favour and dive into HeadFi to find the best headphones for audio quality at your chosen price range. I guarantee that they will not be a "Beats by Dre" branded set of cans.

To be fair, they are not exactly band sounding, it's just that you can get similiar performing or better cans for a lot less.

Personally, I thought the mids were lacking quite a bit and preferred the sound of the Koss PortaPros which had similiar bass and treble but better mids yet cost only £15 lol.

tried some

my senn 350s are better. they arent bad but certainly not worth the money they charge for them

I wasnt impressed when i listened to them, plenty of power but not much clarity.. think overpriced.. look at other makes around the same price!
