Just read an interesting article on Dailymail.co.uk

Summary: The New York Initiative (NYI) - a group of vigilantes who model themselves on comic book superheroes - have posted an advert on classified ads website Craigslist offering 'rescue teams' for hookers whose clients' turn violent.

They dress up in protective armour and masks just like the characters in Kick Ass, although no capes!, the majority of them are martial arts experts too

What do you think about this?

RSS thread is RSS thread.

Also you just admitted you read daily fail, gd is going to hound you.

Don't be a bandwagon jumping idiot, that OP was fine, he didn't just link and run.

OP, I think it's a fairly awful idea, surely they should just join the police if they want to help out?

As daft as it sounds, it increasingly common.

I've got to read the sun site as part of my job, they had several articles about US and UK 'superheroes' on there.

although, they don't have super powers so aren't super heroes and the US ones aren't that bad. They all seem to be trained in martial arts etc however the UK ones are a joke. One guy is an overweight banker called the statesmen, and another is a girl who defends animals. Neither have training.

I see nothing wrong with the US ones, they know they risks and accept them. They are stepping in an tying to clean up the streets, something that more people should take an active interest in. As long as they remain inside the law it shouldn't matter.

The UK ones have been praised by the police, but that will soon change when one of them gets killed or seriously injured.

This seems like one of those movie moments where some NYPD detective travels to England to question Peter Sutcliffe on what the Craigslist Ripper might be thinking.

Only for him to give him some riddle and act all intimidating etc.

Too much Hannible perhaps?

Its a bit like those guardian angels they had on the subway.

Seems like 2 different groups of "superheros" are bickering between each other. Maybe they could meet up and battle it out in times square :D

It's quite amusing I think. The closest person I've found who looks like he could be half decent at helping against crime is a guy called Phoenix Jones - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Jones

"'Criminals leave when they see this suit': Phoenix Jones' suit incorporates a bulletproof vest, trauma plating on his arms and legs and other sensitive areas. His utility belt includes a Taser, Mace and tear gas"

Video of him -

Funny quote "WOW... I wonder if there's gonna be a response from the crime world in the form of a crazy, costumed, criminal mastermind... That would be legendary!"

Haha brilliant!
