Can we have a sub-forum for religious discussion please?

Who said the title would be changed?

I stated quite clearly in the original thread that the SC was the place for religious discussion. :)

Yes my friend, but I asked if that was your personal opinion or DR decision (other Dons had also input personal opinion) but the thread was locked due to derailment. Unintentional I'm absolutely sure, but we were none the wiser until now.

As for who said about the title change:

I wasn't aware of that, the decision was that there will be no sub forum but the title of SC will be changed

apologies if that was not communicated

Left hand, meet right hand. :p :)

I wasn't aware either. What is the SC title change you referred to, it seems the same at the moment?

I have just chedked and noticed that it hasn't changed so have requested this be done, It was removal of the newsworthy bit and widening of the general scope iirc

I do hope people do see that I am here to help and not just lay the law down, I try and explain stuff as much as possible but we do need to maintain the forum rules

what I generally do not respond to is screaming and shouting, I do try and be reasonable and fair at all times

GD would be boring if we all replied with 'happy easter'.

Not with so many other fun threads. Blatantly admitting to being a troll, and dismissing insult as 'so what it's GD' is everything that's wrong about this. I'm not just talking about you either friend, so don't think I'm having a go. Plenty of others peed on the fire too. Wishing the OP a reciprocal happy Easter certainly wouldn't have hurt. :)

Mods, the problem with the DR decision I feel is this:

People don't see SC as a catch-all for anything more serious than a bit of banter or informal discussion within GD.

There is a huge schism that divides the two sub-forums: SC has become a place for the extremely dry, serious and overbearing argument whereas GD has become a composition of the stupid and informal.

The problem with changing the title of SC is that it doesn't address how people see or feel about it. Threads will still remain in GD and they will still be derailed, simply because there isn't an adequate place to discuss the inbetween.

Altering the role of SC, doesn't change how people will perceive it. It's business as usual.

How come in Motors the powers that be have decided that when someone posts their new car the only response allowed is kittens & fluffy bunny rabbits, but here in GD it's fine for Squawk to get absolutely lynched for posting Happy Easter?

For what little it's worth coming from little ole me, I thank you for it sincerely. I'm sure others do too. :) It just irks us when members come under sustained personal attack for nothing more than expressing a sentiment (protected by law at that!). It's not on, and I don't feel it's in the spirit of - or does justice to - the OcUK forums to do so. So we speak up. :)

I was referring to Rotty who said the title was changed to reflect the wider scope of discussion, at the moment it implies a political discussion forum rather than anything else.:)

Same!

Maybe divine intervention telling us all to go to bed?

Perhaps, but it'd be nice if we hung around long enough to chat with the Dons until they decide they're closing shop. One person whining does nothing. Several people expressing dismay and regret might just help stop a debacle like today happening to someone again. JMHO. :)

personally I have a real dislike of people being rude for no reason in any aspect of life
