Can we have a sub-forum for religious discussion please?

I was referring to Rotty who said the title was changed to reflect the wider scope of discussion, at the moment it implies a political discussion forum rather than anything else.:)

I knew that:o:p

Did we just break the forum by complaining too loudly? lol Burnsy, pedal harder! :D

That's bloody Huddy! see what happens when he has DR access.:D

personally I have a real dislike of people being rude for no reason in any aspect of life

Indeed Rotty, and I think that's the point. I don't think there's anybody arguing for an iron fist imposing religious thought on OcUK (lol), indeed difference of opinion is the lifeblood of debate.

However, it seems lately the overtly aggressive and insulting 'attack the religionists as hard and for as long as you can for no real reason bandwagon' has become basically the latest forum meme, and it's a bad one. Not just for the individuals affected, but for the image of the forums. JMHO. :)

EDIT: Wanted to include, but forgot to say: This new 'anti-theist meme' has become so silly that it even sustains attacks and silliness against the professed agnostics and ignostics - even atheists who don't join the bandwagon of hate. It's ridiculous and I for one request an eye be kept out. Not theological protection, merely a balanced hand with no pointless aggression and trolling. On either side.

I love the madness of GD but I know where my line is on a public forum. Is a real pity some people don't know where theirs is or even that there is one. If someone's well wishes in what ever context beit religious or other, offends you to the point of anger then you have issue. Should squark have posted happy Easter in sc? Imho no, someone wishing you a good day, isn't up for debate.

Lysander still upset about the Ghostbusters forum? :(

No, he was (along with several others - myself included) annoyed at the way Squark and others are being treated lately by a certain faction of the membership. Is a one-liner about a 'Ghostbusters forum' really the kind of constructive input a thread like this begs?

It has turned into another form of bullying in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with disagreement or the odd joke at someone's expense, but recently it has turned very nasty.

I'm not really sure what 'a thread like this' is?

Care to explain what happened?

Precisely. Everyone can take a joke in context, or the odd friendly jibe (especially in GD!) but it's become a very particular and aggressive form of bullying. I think anti-theist meme might not have been quite the right choice of phrase on my part, but that's what I was getting at.

I feel like I'm ****ing into the wind in bothering to reply to some of these threads.

I'm right, listen to me dammit!

Serious question.......

If the sub forum was added what would it be called?

No trolling this guys or Holidays will be handed out.

Given the fact this thread is likely heading for imminent closure (not for bad behaviour, I'm simply remembering the earlier words in the thread) it's hard to say.

This feels a little like "Come up with a good 'un - you've one try, and 60 seconds to do it". :p But I'm sure something suitable could be arrived at given a moderate window of opportunity.

'The Road Not Taken'

And then put what it is about in the description, it might not be relevant but it sounds good...?

Well Rainmaker/Castiel/Squark, I'm off to bed. Sorry!

Night chaps!

Night Westyfield.:)

Sorry Nix, and yes you have a valid point, which was something that was discussed in Rainmakers earlier thread.

Unfortunately the consensus amongst the Dons/Admins is that SC/GD separation is sufficient at this time.

Informal Discussion?

EDIT:

Quite like Robbo's idea.

Whatever it is, just spell out that it's for threads too formal for GD but not dry enough for SC.

Not at all.
