quick question

we're travelling to London in a few weeks and taking our son with us. He's 8 so can travel free. He'll also be with us so doesn't need an oyster card.

But how will he get past the turnstiles without a ticket ?

I've never actually tried it

i dont know if theres room for 2 in the turnstile ?

*edit* note to self. DO NOT google image search london underground turnstile at work !

Wayhey! :D

Nice bod, not sure about the face. Two pinter in the absolute worst-case. All-in-all, I would.

Anyway, back on topic: if all else fails, speak to one of the many staff members lingering around, or just lift the bugger over! :p

I was going to moan safesearch at you, but even on strict the wolf head is still apparent!

exactly !

If i don't find any other advice, i will just wing it.

But i didn't want to just guess, as getting it wrong will likely incur the wrath of the ticket officer, ad we know how grumpy they can be :D

Usually you just need to speak to one of the attendents at the ticket gates and they'll let you through, I'm not sure if you'd need to prove the child is 8 but I doubt it, they've generally been pretty friendly whenever I've had to speak to them.

Each station has a disabled turnstile for fat people to get through (you think im joking but i've seem a few large folk use them), so you can use that. As per previous comments the staff will have no problem.

Wow at Google images, damn

Exactly this - tis what I do when I've taken the kids to London in the past.

Unless you're carrying him don't do this if don't fancy having a crying child wedged in the gates.
They're very good at only letting one person through at a time.

this was my thought.

I'll take him to the pushchair / disabled gate. Thanks all.

Just walk through the barrier with him in front of you . If you aren't quick enough you might get caught a bit by the barrier yourself but it's not a problem . We do this all the time .
