Hi guys,

I've been wanting to buy something for a couple of weeks now and pay day is at midnight tonight and it's a good month so I'm thinking of buying something for my pc....

Here is what I've been thinking:

1. New, faster and bigger SSD?

2. New monitor - was going to buy a Hazro thank god I didn't. Don't think I want to pay for a Dell £700 or £1100 is just silly but the response of the screeen worries me as I'm a fast FPS gamer. Maybe the new samsung 3D monitors SA950 etc (if they ever come out). I would like higher resolution than 1920 x 1080 but that might lead me to another option which I also don't really want to do that much...

3. Xfire 6970 - will one of the lightning 6970s xfire with my HIS 6970? I suppose I could sell the 6970 and get a 580 maybe?

4. Eyefinity - Get some 21.5" or 24" monitors and go eyefinity. Just not sure if the bezels will bug the hell outta me.

Looking at my sig, what would you change/upgrade/add to? I've already got all the perihperals that I need, Blackwidow, Deathadder, amazing mouse pad that ocuk don't stock (Puretrak Talent - simply AMAZING) and some pretty decent sennheiser headphones......

Suggestions please !

Thank peeeps

Wu

We have this every pay day for you.

NOTHING.

You're not experiencing any slow down in games, does everything you want.

Bank the money, save it for a full system upgrade later on - or, for a holiday, or a new shiny car :p

I know sorry....but to be fair I haven't bought anything since Christmas.

Guess I'll go along the monitor route as above....

Another suggestion would be a better cpu cooler, then clock your 920 a bit higher. The rest of your spec is still very high end.

Right then - monitor it is !

Cmon Samsung release those monitors already!

Anyone use a Dell for fast paced FPS gaming?

All I would want is high resolution AND 120Hz - is that too much to ask??:p

Use a Dell here and have never had any problems with fast paced FPS or driving games (were many revisions after this one too and they got much, much better).

This needs turning into a sparkling banner or image macro or something, and adding to the post icons list. I feel like saying this in about half the threads on here.

PA-LEEEEEEASE

Why do people have to go on..... if you have nothing useful to contribute then don't contribute? It's not hard....

And clearly the best option would be a monitor upgrade so why not just say that? It's not like I've got 3x U3011s 580 SLI Xeon CPUs all water cooled in an 800D is it? Yes I have a nice rig but I'm asking what people would upgrade/add to first. The most common response has been monitor....

Don't get on people's backs just bcos ur bored....

Yeah the Dells have a magnificent reputation and that must be for a reason.

I do however feel that 120Hz is going to please me more....argh just wish you could borrow tech for like 3 days before purchasing.

Maybe I'll bring my tower to OcUK HQ and ask very nicely to try out Dells Vs 120Hz for the day....surely some of them use Dells and 120Hz monitors? :D

EDIT: Just one question -why is the monitor £100+ more epxensive from Dell themselves? Is it a new revision ?

Ive had a 120hz screen and believe me the U2410 is very much more pleasing for countless reasons:).

Dell Monitors are always overpriced directly for individual customers!

Short story on what happens is a company buys like a thousand U2410s from Dell at an amazingly discounted volume price, then adds on a tenner to the price they paid and sells a hundred of them to OcUK, who then adds to a tenner to the price they paid and sells one to you.

The U2410 thread is here, but IIRC A02 is the latest revision... and given how long its been out I'm sure by now that's what OcUK have in stock, but would be worth a quick email/call to check :).

Thanks Westyfield2

That's so crazy...

I was looking at the Dell Alienware Optx23" 3d monitor and Dell direct was the cheapest place so it surprised me a little - those poor b4strds buying from Dell.....

So I guess it's wait for the Samsungs to come out

Buy a Dell 23" for me should be enough - unless the IQ is much worse the price difference for 1" and going from 1080p to 1200 must be marginal

Actually I could get 2x 23" Ultras for less than the price of 1x 24" ???

ROFLMAO
