I guess I'm going to bow out here. I can't beleive you actually think you are a truck driver because you've got a Nissan 4x4. Thats the funniest thing I've heard all week.

:D

I have never said I was a truck driver. I would have thought lorry drivers would prefer to be called HGV drivers to highlight the 'value' of their extra license.

What's the big deal with a name more commonly used in the US than here but that has been adopted over here.

My vehicle complies with the Oxford dictionary definition of a truck. :D

I suppose if I admit I have a hoover made by Electrolux a whole new thread will start.

This forum is so easy to get people going ;)

I still think his a truck, now if it didnt have the open bit at the back, it wouldnt be a truck.

For example when i drive my shogun, im not trucking you see :)

Shut up fox, it's a truck!! It's not a van, not a car, not a scooter, not a bike, not a motorbike, not a trolley, not a lorry, not a bird, not a plane, certainly ain't superman, it's a truck!!!

When you drive them and relaise how agricultural they are you realise they are not 4x4s but trucks!

It's a truck. I say we need a poll, any Dons with a second to spare?

No we don't, it's a truck, regardless of how many people are confused between generic and specific terms it is still a truck. It's a class a truck called pickup which may or may not have 4 wheel drive. A lot of American pickup trucks are 2 wheel drive. The fact that the Navara has 4 wheel drive does not make it a 4x4. 4x4's are those vehicles also called Chelsea Tractors and it's definitely not a tractor - thinking about it isn't the powered unit of an articulated lorry called the tractor unit, so what some people are calling a truck is actually a tractor.

Shouldnt you tell Nissan that, they have it listed on the website under the '4x4' section.

Perhaps call them up tommorrow and tell them they are wrong and that it isnt a 4x4? Maybe involve trading standards? :D

Whilst you are at it, report Volvo as well.

They seem to think those lorrys/tractor units are 'trucks' - I don't see a single Navara style vehicle in their range :D

My Dads had a Low Range gearbox etc.. doesn't taht make it a 4x4??

Perfectly good thread

To be fair he told us absolutely nothing about the purchase - just posted a picture, but yea, it kinda snowballed after the truck thing. I didn't expect to end up arguing for ages about whether its a truck or a 4x4 (Nissan themselves reckon its a 4x4!) and in hindsight should probably have given up really.

I promise not to mention the truck thing again :p

Nissan UK do, Nissan USA list the similar Frontier/Titan as "trucks"
Nissan Japan don't sell any pickups though
