Been to St Lucia with Virgin 3 times.
I highly recommend Virgin holidays they do seem to have very good reps.
You DO NOT want to go to St Lucia in Aug/Sept. Its smack bang in the hurricane season. I went late Nov into Dec last year and the devastation the last hurricane left you had to see with your own eyes.
We had to travel by boat round the island as the only main road joining North to South was basically destroyed. It was virgin doing this, other agents were still using the mini buses to move people which meant they were driving in very dangerous conditions, read mud covered roads alongside collapsed parts of road directly next to drop into ocean etc.
Ive used a specialist company to caribbean and to be honest virgin came close on service, their reps are definately a stop up from most other travel cos. They mainly seem to be locals so they have a genunie knowledge of what they are on about.
St Lucia is wonderful, its a hard call to not go back again this year but after 3 trips on the trot we really want to go elsewhere, so looking at Barbados or bahamas this time.
Love the caribbean style, relaxed but great service and genuine nice people as a whole. Was terrible to see them trying to recover after the hurricane, we bought more from the few beach traders than normal, there is no safety net for those people the hurricane can destroy all they own and yet they cope, get on with it and still have a smile on their face and a polite word to say.
