If so , what frame rates are you achieving ? I am playing 1920x1080 and on both Extreme settings and Very High settings it can get laggy ...disappointed with this cards performance.

5970 (stock)
11.3 Cats
i7 920 @ 3.6GHZ
6GB DDR3
Windows 7 64Bit

I'm guessing you'll see a pretty big boost when 11.4 comes out, they've not had a chance to optimize for Crysis 2 since it's been a fair while since the last cat came out.

I'm guessing your 5970 is not using crossfire therefore only 1 GPU is working.

Download GPUZ load up the game alt tab out and see if both GPUS are working.

You could also use MSI Afterburner to monitor the GPUs load.

You should be able to obliterate crysis especially on 1080p, as they say, check your crossfire is working

.....

New profiles added to this release:
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Improves CrossFire performance
- Test Drive Unlimited – resolves negative CrossFire scaling
- Need For Speed Hot Pursuit – resolves negative CrossFire scaling
- Gothic III – resolves negative CrossFire scaling

Improved Crossfire performance was added with Catalyst 11.3 Cap 3.

If your drivers aren't up to date download the 11.3 drivers and the latest Cap 5:

Ok I had CAP1 installed, I have CAP5 installed now so will run some benchmarks . Thanks for that .

Regarding GPUZ , OK tried that . On the overview I can see ATI Crossfire Enabled (2 GPUs) for the first Adapter and Disabled for the second adapter.
Under the sensors tab , when the game is running the second GPU seems to be clocked at 157MHZ and jumps occasionally to 725. Not sure how realistic that is however , maybe a glitch with GPUZ ?

The CAP5 profiles seem to have made a massive difference . 100+ FPS on Very High settings and 70FPS+ on Extreme @ 1920x1080 . Will play around a bit more on some of the more complex maps and see what the difference is ....... thanks for all the replies :-)

How do you force it to use a specific profile ?

A 'mod' was to rename the crysis2.exe to bioshock.exe which actually worked surprisingly well, but that was only in absence of a proper driver/profile. Now the CAT5 profiles are out, it's irrelevant using other games' profiles, as they'll almost certainly be worse.

Did cap 4 and 5 update crysis 2 profiles?

I use radeon pro and force the fear profile as 5870 in crossfire was performing at around 40/45fps..Now constant 60fps

Radeon pro is a big thumbs up:)

Not had a single problem here with my 5970 relating to fps - currently using 10.4 drivers too! Had the light flickering issue, but renamed the .exe to Bioshock to fix that.

well since using CAP5 profiles, I am getting in the region of 60-120FPS on Extreme @ 1920x1200 depending on the map complexity so it appears to have made a significant difference. Thanks to Surveyor and the rest of the suggestions .

well upgraded to a 6990 today as my 5970 needs to be RMA'd . However I am seeing a new problem now in both the 11.3 and 11.4 drivers. Playing Crysis 2 , it randomly gives me a black screen and then returns to game. its like it exists to desktop . At the same time windows makes that sound as if a USB device has been disconnected and reconnected , a bit like when your uninstalling the CATS and the monitor goes black for a second or two as the driver unloads , and then returns ....

anyone else getting this ?

Re install the drivers, If hardware has changed some games can be touchy and won't like the new stuff. You may want to try re installing the game also :)
