It's certainly an eerie place. Not scary but haunting I would imagine. I too would love to visit, despite the risks but I would imagine getting anywhere near the place requires special clearance.

Yeah I looked at that but the tour (iirc) does not actually go into Pripyat, just the surrounding area. I would like to go into the city centre, the fairground is of particular interest.
I think it was COD4 or maybe STALKER 'making of' videos which I found really interesting.
I have plans to go to Auschwitz and Berkowitz next year (yeah I know I'm a morbid so and so) so I doubt the missus will allow any more ventures. Maybe one for the year after next.
I don't know about clearing the site up but they want to build a new sarcophagus because the current one is in a right state. Apparently there are problems securing the funds to build it.
