what do you think of them beats by dre?

I've also tested some of the top end Senn's and my decision still stands. My bad for having a personal opinion :(

At the end of the day sound quality can be measured scientifically, sure everyone is always going to have their preferences to a bit more bass or sharper highs but it always ****es me off when people think saying it's their opinion should some how make them immune to criticism.

You said the sound quality is awesome. It's not. Certainly not for the price. You could probably do better for £100 and I wouldn't be surprised if some £60 beat these headphones sound-quality wise (like Goldring NS1000's).

You may like the sound but it doesn't make it any better. Being a basshead is nothing to be ashamed of, it practically disqualifies you from judging a good audio equipment though :p

do whatever u want with your money.. i am sure if ur gonna spend that much money on a pair of headphones u would also have the time to do some research. so the question is are u after them for fashion statement or buying for the sound quality?

If you want that Beats sound at a reasonable price look into the Sony XB500/XB700.

Sure they won't look as good dangling from the neck, but your wallet will thank you!

You guys have to remember, some people love bass at expense of midrange and treble. I've seen a few people say they prefer 2.1 PC speakers over decent budget separates speaker setup, just because the 2.1 PC speakers have more bass. Granted, that's speakers, but sometimes better sound quality falls on deaf ears.

It sure can be measured scientifically, and you were the only one who started off with the bad attitude, and I don't really care whether you think someone's opinion is right or wrong to be honest, there is no right or wrong. The OP was asking for everyones opinion of the beats by dre and I've given that.

I find the quality to be quite good actually. I did not pay retail price for my headphones I got them for around £150. As for the Goldring NS1000's I've never tested them so can't say much about those headphones.

Well thanks for not bashing me for my personal preference like all the others seem to be doing lol. As for good audio equipment, I'm no expert in the sound department but everyone will have a different view on headphones :)

which ones?

Tried the HD595 & HD650's which I admit were good but I liked the beats by dre's more because of the price I was able to get them for ~£150 and I already own a pair of HD418's so thought I'd get a pair of beats by dre's and I don't regret buying them.

I have a set of Beat Pro's which are vastly superior in sound quality to Studios and Solos, they have better build quality being aluminium rather than plastics although they are heavier and tight fitting (my personal preference) and tbh in overall sound quality they are not far off the similarly priced Senn 650's but with a more robust build quality. I bought them to use outside as my Beyers and Senns simply would get trashed.

I think there is a lot of hate for the beats simply because they are celebrity endorsed. I like mine and they compare well enough with the other two sets of cans I own.

Overpriced, it's much easier to get better quality for less...and they're a bit of a fashion statement xD

Pretty sure there's a few threads on here already about them

Sounds like you're a basshead.

I found the Beats worse than my old HD555 (let alone the 595...). They focused too much on giving out meaty bass but not enough on vocals and background details.

Not as overpriced as Bose, but still overpriced for what they are.

Try some DR-150's if you want deep dynamic bass, and you'll have some change left for a half decent headphone amp also... ;)

A reasonable (if rambling) review.

The Beats Pro and the Beats Studio are two different animals and the Pro's really do not deserve the hammering that some are giving them. I think that many are critical of them without actually listening to them or just because they are endorsed/monster.

Are they overpriced? Probably, but then so are many other stylised electronics such as pretty much anything produced by Apple for example, but that doesn't make them bad.

If you are looking for a cool looking pair of cans with decent sound then the Pro's are a good buy, if you are looking for a pair of cans specifically for the Studio then get the Beyer DT990Pro's. The issue with the Beats is that they not really aimed at the Audiophile like advertised, but at the Prosumer and in the prosumer market they are good, very good.

Don't buy the Beats Studio as the Pro's are far superior.

If you can afford Beats Pros, you could get some ATH-ES10s imported from HK (rather than paying the UK price) for £250.

IMO they look and sound better than Beats. Plenty of punchy bass without the mud, clear vocals and smooth highs. Mmmm shiny titanium...
