New Midweek Madness sale, I have to say, I've been waiting for ARMA II to come on offer for some time now.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/33900

ARMA II - £3.99

ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead - £11.99
DLC - 40% off (£4.79 each or £9.58 a pack)

ARMA II + ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead - £17.99

Also credit to Oxy for posting it first:

Midweek Madness on steam has arma 2 for £3.99, Combined Ops for £17.99 which I strongly suggest buying

both DLCs are only £4.79 I say only buy BAF as the PMC we don't use.

http://havoc-company.com for some proper Arma 2 operations with 20-30guys each sunday. (some training is required)

Thanks ordered for 4 pound cant argue that!

Yup, I'm considering the pack but it's a little on the expensive side.

Is it just me, or Steam does the stupid thing of discounting individual games more than the package? If you had bought them separately, you'd save £2 or so.

A few questions:

1) Is Operation Arrowhead better optimised than ARMA II or do both have similar requirements?
2) Are mods for ARMA II more matured and stable?
3) Is Combined Operations a standalone game or two separate titles?
4) Are the DLCs worth it?
5) Do Combined Operations include DLCs? It doesn't seem to be the case, judging from the Steam Store page.

1 - OA is more upto date, they keep optimising both with patches but they similar
2 - similar
3 - Its OA + A2
4 - If you like high detail models yes
5 - No DLC included, players can make their own

3) Is there any advantage of having both in a pack rather than separately?

4) Aren't there high-resolution mods anyway? I was more concerned about server compatibility/online play with the mods, really.

.

No its the same

The player made stuff dont include the same quality stuff that I've seen but its possible, its called a mod usually because its reusing most of the game assets. DLC isnt a requirement ever, its just a way to buy in extra gear

Looking to buy this, love this type of game but read all about the issues the engine had when the game released.

The graphics in general do not look very impressive? Every youtube video i see i think the user must have their settings on low because could have sworn there was some raving about is graphics at some point? Or is this due to people setting it low to see people in the grass for example ?!

Texture detail on Very High, everything else on Normal, get 40-50fps at 5760x1200, that will do me :)

No AA either though. Could ditch the res and try some of that.
