I bought an ocuk premade system earlier in the year, and for the most part I can't fault it. However the graphics card has never been quite right (lower performance than I'd expect in certain circumstances) and its just started artifacting, so I'm going to look at sending it back.

However, I realise this isn't the greatest card in the book so am thinking of upgrading anyway. Money isn't really a problem but I don't want to spend massive amounts of money.

I want a card that can handle 1920x1080 dual screen with games on one monitor running all bells and whistles whilst being able to record Fraps to a solid state drive.

I'd recommend the GTX 570, no point going to the 580 for an extra £100 when you are only at 1080p but the 570 still packs a good punch, plus it will overclock a good bit if you need to.

470 or 570,
but really i used to run one single 460gtx and it was flawless at 1920x1080 even in 3d in some games!

you could also go for a 6870 but i dont know much about the 6*** series. with an ATI card you will have room for a 3rd monitor if you wanted without needing a 2nd gpu.

I'll be honest I don't know much about the new cards, especially ATI. How noisy are they/how hot do they run?

The 6950 fan sucks, it's pretty loud.

The 570/580 use a new vapour chamber that is VERY effective and keeps them very cool compared to last gen. They are very quiet up to around %60 fan speed too. Deffo recommend them.

Sounds good, I shall do some reading. The 580 doesn't look likely due to the extra cost for which I can't see the specs are that much better - usual NVidia trick no? I'm not an Nvidia fanboy, so I'm happy to move to ATI.

It is a monster, don't get me wrong. But you pay a premium, which isn't worth it when you could get a card with %90 of the performance for £100 less (570)

Ok I think I'm happy with the 570, as my pc is silent so the quiet cooler is a plus. Any particular brand that you can recommend?
