Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

Mine hasn't, every time my debit card has been cloned (well only twice now) they have made me fill out tons of paperwork and it then goes to the fraud team. Only once they have looked into it the money was refunded (took 14 working days last time).

When it happened on my credit card they refunded it instantly. No questions asked.

What bank are you with?

When my card was cloned, literally the moment they tried to use it I had a phone call from the bank (HSBC) saying that a suspicious payment was requested and if I was the one behind it. I said no, and they just said "Ok, the payment is now declined, we have cancelled your card and will be getting a new one soon." And that was that.

I know it's almost immediate phone call because I accidentally triggered it myself once when I put the wrong address in by accident, soon as I hit pay, the phone rang 3 or so seconds later, mad stuff. :)

Also don't personally think this is a small hacker, clearly gone after information that they could sell.

Fair point - was holding onto a thread of hope on that one, guess its only time they need - are there particular standards of encryption required for such information including CC details?

Barclays and Nationwide. I have had similar experiences as you where they caught the fraud, they stopped it and sent me a new card however when they didn't pick it up and I noticed it on my statements that was when I ran into issues. :(

I feel sorry for their customer service reps right now, they're going to be having a miserable time dealing with the brunt of this apparent 'outrage'.

Ah, yea I guess some can pass the net. I've actually personally triggered it myself more than 10 times roughly xD, but only because they were new store purchases at odd times. One time ordered a pizza (hah...) and got a phone call. Couldn't resist replying "You've delayed my pizza...." Still congratulated them on their speed though :).

Anyway, I've now gone round and changed my passwords for the majority of my accounts that I can remember as I can't remember my psn password :S. Amazing how many accounts you rack up.

really wouldnt expect this from a company like sony...
im left with mixed feelings about my bank details though, it said in that FAQ that there wont be end dates or security numbers for bank cards stored, but ive bought games without even needing my card at hand before through PSN :(

And this all started because Sony removed the OtherOS feature and made themselves targets, stupid greedy Sony

Maybe Sony should ask Valve if they could replace PSN with Steam ;)

WOW this isn't what I expected the statement was going to be. They should have released this statement ages ago.

Any idea on when the network is back up so we can change our details?
