Car broken into . . . again

My car got broken into for the second time in two weeks . . . :(

Both times the police basically said there wasn't anything they could do, so I need to improve the cars security. Currently it has on of those locks that goes around the handbrake and gear stick but they managed to prise that off somehow the second time. They would have had the car if I hadn't seen them doing it outside my bedroom window and chased them away.

So I need a cheap way of visibly improving the cars security, its only an old fiesta so it isn't worth spending a lot of money on but I really don't want to foot the bill for the repairs again so I could use some suggestions.

I was thinking of maybe getting a steering wheel lock as well, does anyone know how effective those things are?

On another forum someone suggested to put a note in the car saying 'Smile, your on camera', made me laugh but maybe worth a try lol.

They have tried to steal the car twice?
Why would they want your fiesta if its an old thing and not worth anything?

you havent got a fancy cd player on show or loose change in view have you? if your parked on a drive you could get one of those barriers that is basically a metal pole that lies flat on the ground until your parked and you can lock it up right so the car is blocked in.

Police reckoned it was just for a joy ride and then set it on fire . . . plus its probably the only car on the street without an immobiliser.

On a side note though, if I catch the thieving b***ards again i'll get out the cricket bat, I'm a student and can't afford to keep getting it repaired so it's a really big problem for me . . .

and there's nothing in the car on display, also its just parked on the street in a fairly out of the way area.

ahhh man, its such a bitch how people can do this. i went through a phase when some idiots ripped all the cars wing mirrors off in my street. 2 weeks later they did it again.

They just don't realise how badly it could screw with someones life.

stick the 120db speaker in the headrest lol!.

lol, that looks pretty interesting, how easy are those to install? i'm rubbish with cars.

OT but my car apparently has an autotaser system fitted, which delivers a high voltage shock if anyone attempts to mess with the steering column or ignition barrel? Anyone actually come across one of these before?

I had previously passed off the sticker as a generic immobiliser but upon actually reading it thought "oh"!

Lol, I hope that's true Lashout. I vote for fitting a remote locking system, wait for them to get in, lock it, douse them in petrol and burn them alive (until dead).

Remove 2 of the HT leads. :) Won't stop them getting in but at least they won't be able to get away.

Problem is if they can't get away they might just vandalise it. :(

Would a cheap alarm not keep going off all the time? Someone has a **** alarm on a **** rusty 205 diesel near where I live and it goes off randomly and they struggle to turn it off! :s

I feel for you man. Only thing you can do it put as many steering locks on the car and clamp one of the wheels. Then they wont go nowhere with it. Also look into getting a really cheap alarm that goes off even when a cat jumps on your car.
