Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

Oh man, that's not good - front page tabloid news; sure, it's the Sun but how long until it's front page on more reputable publications? Although a LOT of people read the Sun.
They're going to need Harry Houdini to get out of this one with reputation intact.
I'm actually starting to wonder if this will destroy Sony's gaming business.
Just a couple of months after I'd traded my Xbox for a PS3 too

Just wait until the Mail gets onto the story:eek:

Just cancelled my card that I had linked to my PSN, bit of a pain having to wait for the new one, but better safe than sorry.

Well, I guess this settles the which is better, PS3 or Xbox 360 debate. :p

I *think* I've only ever used pre-paid cards to buy PSN content. Fingers crossed.

It's one thing to steal the data, but really would sony be storing our card details in plain text? surely there was some encryption there or is it really that easy to break it?

Peoples minds are changing now "I'm not paying to play online with Xbox 360 when its free on the PS3" With this credit card issue arising just shows you pay for quality and security when paying for Xbox Live.

Is Xbox Live actually any more secure though? I doubt any of us know this, nor are ever likely to.

amazing news really, where are all the hacker defenders now? come on you know who you are - the same cry babies that claimed what the hackers were doing was legit....morons. I would love to start naming names on this forum but frankly cant be bothered to go through the threads again.

this is crap news to be honest, Sony should have done more but the hackers are a massive bunch of a-holes and i hope they get caught and shot.

Shocking stuff.

Best advice I can give is to contact your bank and let them know you've lost your card. They'll then send you a new one in the post. Rendering the old one useless!

I'll be doing this today!

Better safe than sorry mate. I'll be doing the same.

Next time I'll purchase psn vouchers.

Just goes to show that anything man made can be broken by another man......

Propably not, but XBL isn't a target.

What pi$$es me off is that Sony should have sent out a message that they were hacked and do not know if CC details had been leaked instead of waiting 6 days before notifying us.

I guess they had hoped it wasn't a big leak so they wouldn't have to say anything.

Oh crap, didn't read until just now about the card details being stolen!

Don't know which card I had linked and don't have any emails saved which may hint at what card :(

OK, Sony are morons in all of this, but flippin hackers.... next person I see on here defending what these pricks do (in any form, for whatever cause) will get keyboard bashing from me.

Reminds me why I hate people! Well, most anyway.

Surely it can't take too much longer just to enable sign-in and friends list stuff. They can keep the store offline if need be?

I would like to know how home brew will benefit from credit card details.

What the hell are you all talking about? Nobody has ever advocated stealing personal details, and hacking consoles to run unsigned code/homebrew has nothing whatsoever to do with the ***holes who have compromised PSN and stolen personal details. Why are you putting all 'hackers' into the same basket? This is a completely different thing to the firmware hacks/hackers that people were defending in those previous threads.

Get over yourselves and actually look at some facts, this is a completely different thing

Hackers are the technological equivalents of yobs/chavs.

There may be different kinds, but they are all lower class, sub-standard human beings. Some are violent (guys who steal credit card details/yobs), some are just common (homebrew hackers/chavs), but the world would be a better place without either...

Wow. There is actually zero point in arguing with such ill-informed Daily Mail-esque blinkered views. I honestly can't be bothered.

Oh dear, sense of humor failure.

I did follow up my post with about a dozen bloody smilies indicating that I was only kidding.

But go on being such a @~$%^£
