I realised a while ago that my girlfriend has a lot of very similar characteristics to my mum. I was completely fine with this, I love my mum (obviously in a different way to how I love my girlfriend) and it's better her to be similar to my mum than to my dad because that would be even more strange.

I have recently come to the conclusion that I am actually quite similar to her dad in quite a few ways, which is a bit freaky.

Does anyone else think they are similar to their girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband's parents or vice versa?

My mum says all the time that my boyfriend is like my stepdad. They get on really well and do have a lot of the same opinions!

A bit weird really, but like you say I love him in a totally different way. Maybe, as I get on so well with my mum and stepdad, it kind of stands to reason that I would end up with someone sort of similar.

Freud would have a field day in this thread.

I know right

I forgot to add that my girlfriend gets on like a house on fire with both of my parents too, which is always nice :)

This :D

I don't think any of my ex's are like my mom, nor I like their fathers. IMO.

Perhaps that's why they are exes? :p

My wife is much more challenging than my mum, firey, headstrong, funnier, more outspoken and less eager to please. Love my mum but couldn't have married someone as nice as her as it wouldn't fit with me being such a hole!

Although I am much more ambitious and have very different interests than my father in law we are both pretty Alpha and share a lot of traits:p

my ex is just like my parents, only ever sorry when caught out but needs something from you, thinks monogamy is a dark coloured wood and the world is there to run around after her/them, also its do as she says while she/they do as they please.

Im almost a carbon copy of my dad, my ex's have been nothing like my mum, as stated above by someone i would want more fire, i hate the way my mum is always doing things for everyone, but then again its a different time now and the whole "woman in the house" things is well and truely gone.

My girlfriend is nothing like my dad. She's not called Frank and she's not nearly 60. That said, I can't comment on the body hair situation; I don't know if my dad shaves his legs and ****.

hes picked up the hope that my dad has in the fact they might win the lottery and like to plan how they would spend it ..... its eerie
