David Cameron interrupted reading a letter from a former Labour MP to tell a member of the House: 'Calm down dear'.

The prime minister had to break off twice more in his reply at PMQs and the Speaker also reprimanded MPs about the noise in the House of Commons.

But the public later wrote in to the BBC's Daily Politics to say they were not impressed with the PM's choice of language towards Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Angela Eagle and the PM faced calls to apologise.

I thought it was quite amusing. I wonder if it will be used to call him sexist...I dont think labour has much ammunition though seeing how amusing he found it:

Cameron - "Calm down dear"
Clegg - "What have I got into..."

when you watch PMQ/houss of somons footage you realise just how restrained this forum is with it's ranting.

the fact these idiots act like a bunch of jeering school children is slightly worrying.

Would the right honorable gentleman . . . Why not just go "Oi, ***** listen here". Its really embarrasing, and seriously cringeworthy.

possibly, isnt really a good move to mix banter with politics :p

LOL a normal day at PMQ. I thought Bercow would explode at the end and give out a few school detentions.

It was all just Ed Balls getting offended on behalf of others. HH for once wasn't being a cow and just sat there with a look on her face that just said "shut up Ballsy".

It is a bit pathetic in a sense. But in another way I think its a sign of a mature democracy at work that political debate can be to some extent irreverent and comedy-like.

I have seen the equivalent in some more recent democracies, and they cant allow themselves that luxury because political debate is far more cut-throat, and between sides that would gladly take over the country if the army sided with them. Some parliaments are constantly re-running a political version of the civil wars of their recent past.

I didn't find it funny, and thought it was inappropriate. I know that everyone says stupid things like that when they're fired up and under pressure, but he just seems so pathetic. Not somebody I enjoy having to refer to as the prime minister. :o

PMQ can be brilliant sometimes. It's just a time for them to flame each other in a light hearted way.

Think of it as a rap battle....with everyone in suits....whilst not rhyming....and using posh smacktalk.

And i sure as hell hope Cameron doesn't apologise. I don't see why he should at all, but they just want to humiliate him i guess.
