How much sleep do you need to feel good at work the next day?

8 hours has me feeling excellent.
7 hours and I'm tired in the morning.
6 hours and I'll be sleeping in the afternoon.
5 hours or less and I'm a wreck all day.

My sleeping pattern is as good as it has ever been just now. Bed between 11 and 12pm and awake between half 7 and 8.

2-8 hours. I sleep irregularly and not always the same time, so it depends on whether I've had a nap during the day, when I slept last, how long I slept for, what I did during the day, etc etc.
No more than 8 unless I haven't slept for 2 days or something, as I found with 9/10+ hours I feel really groggy when I wake up.

Has anyone tried that Sleep Cycle app on the iPhone.

I've wondered if it's akin to a placebo effect but having used it in the past I've always felt really energetic as soon as I wake up.

For those who don't know. It monitors your movement using the iPhone's various sensors and calculates your sleep cycles. You specify a period of about an hour and it wakes you up in that window at the ideal time when you are supposedly coming out of a deep sleep cycle.

6.5-7hrs is normal for me ... less than 6.5hrs and I rapidly go downhill (particular if the amount of sleep drops below 6hrs). But it depends a lot more on where I was in a sleep cycle when I wake / get woken up. If I wake up after 6.5hrs naturally with no alarm when I'll likely be awake and feel fine ... if my alarm wakes me after the same time from a deeper sleep then I know the rest of the day will likely suck ....
