Got my hands on my new car this afternoon at 2pm! Managed to get it insured and in for MOT by 4:45 :D Since my prelude got nailed, i had been looking for something to tinker with and drive on the weekends in the summer.

1974 MG BGT, 75k on the clock, been in storage since 2006.

I suspect it will fail, but never know unless you try :) At least then I will know what needs doing, and be able to get it legal.

Absolutely superb, i love them chrome bumper ones, you enjoy that, its got the webasto roof too :)

My mechanic is currently doing a ground up restoration of a red convertable one of these... awesome machines! I Like it, I like it a lot!

I love these hard topped BGT's & that one looks pretty tidy, Let's hope it isn't rotten underneath & in the usual places, Good luck with the MOT.

IT ONLY BLEEDING WELL PASSED!!!
Nothing needed doing...

Some light corrosion on the discs, and some surface rust on some of the front suspension. Sills have been replaced at some time in the past, and are immaculate.

The chap seems to be genuinely suprised, and said "shes a solid old girl, thats for sure!"

Nice one!

I was shocked & chuffed to bits my e39 (at its age & miles) did the same, but THAT is a real bonus.

And for that age / build (with the greatest respect) to have no fail points speaks volumes as to its condition.

How much did you pay for it?

Thats the best bit...

£0.00 + mot and new battery..

Passed onto me by my Dad. When I was about 8 I asked him if I could have it when he died! He decided not to wait that long :D (im 27 now)
