I know that the sub is supposed to get hot at the top back, but mine is so hot I can barely keep my hand. This only happens on full volume after a while.
Is it normal to be so hot?

Full volume?? Are you almost deaf? :p That's gotta be a bit too loud?

Well, I meant at full comfortable to listen volume - the knob on the sub is half way. But anyway, that is not the point.

I'm concerned about the level of heat - as I said almost too hot to touch. Can this be damaging for the sub?

Running at full volume, I'd expect it to get pretty hot. Too hot to touch at half volume though, that does sound too hot IMO. No experience of them though, so someone else who owns them will have to confirm if that does sound abnormal.

If the amp used in the Aego M is decent then it will cut out before any damage occurs.

You could always put a fan near the heatsink if you're worried about it...

I've never noticed the sub getting too hot on mine, is it in an enclosed space? I wouldn't recommend running them too loudly though.

I damaged one of the satellites by doing this, but luckily OcUK replaced the whole thing.

EDIT: I had it blasting out at room-filling volume for a good hour and while it did get fairly warm it was never too hot to touch.

Aego m Overheating

Bought a pair of these a few months back and was getting the same problem,
opened the sub up to find the contact where it plugs into the board angled at 45 degrees and were being pressed together when the back plate is fitted, while not a problem at first, when the unit warms up a little i found the aego's spike protection system would kick in, the back would reach ridiculous temerature and cut the sound off until it cooled down.

bend the contacts away from each other and pay close attention to the route of the power cable when re-fitting the back cover and it should fix your problem.
mine have worked for 2 months now without temperature issues and stay on at full volume for hours!!
cheers D
