Ugh, the Scenic is back from the dead

Back in about September last year, her Scenic came off the road. Insurance was up and it was time for it to go. I sent it off to a new owner who then failed to put it in their name but was local, so I went round and got it back. It has sat outside since December on SORN. We don't use the car all that often and when we do it's in fits and spurts. Been looking for a new car and 'the one' finally came up at the weekend and we went off to buy it.

Oh wait. I forgot, we're talking about second hand cars here. The 'dealer' turned out to be a toothless guy in a wooden shed with no windows on a Polish valeting forecourt in Tooting and the car was elsewhere 'in storage'. Riiiiight...

This left us in a stitch because we absolutely need a car for the journey this weekend, else it's a hammering on last minute fares on the trains and no transport at the other end, then the issue of getting home, or the other option is to hire a car last minute at huge expense. Weighing it up, it's cheaper for us to reinsure and retax the Scenic, then cash it in when we find the new car. So the car I thought was finally going to go is back and it's still not dead :(

I'd post a pic but I'm not photographing a rusty Scenic that's only worth scrap value that I clean with a broom and a bucket of soapy water :D

I thought it might fail the last MOT on the corroded through exhaust. No worries the guy said, it's got a double skinned system. There's another one inside :(

I'm not sure I get this.

You sold it somebody else but because they didnt send off the logbook you....

... went and took it back?

Given that the name on the logbook is that of the registered keeper NOT the legal owner surely you didnt.. well... err... how did you get the car back?

Did he sell it back to you?

Also as the seller its you who fills out the new keeper details and sends it to the DVLA not the new owner, right?

I cant believe my man, a resident of Kent would stoop that low to steal a Renault :)

In fairness he said "sent" it to the owner. Maybe it's so bad he gave it away?! :D
This. Fox: someone I trusted to do something who then failed to do it. I did it to help them out, stupidly assuming they would deal with the log book as they weren't sure if they wanted it in their name or their g/f's name. Either way - lesson learned this end - and the DVLA aren't as bad as a lot of people try and make out ;)

For a short term rental have you looked at simply hiring a car from Streetcar?
All local places booked up when we needed it unfortunately. We can also use the car to get another car because a lot of the dealers are a pain to get to without a car :(

The hotrod failed its MOT today though, kingpin overly worn and back tyres. Had a feeling I was pushing it a little :(
