Hi,

I received my system this week from the Guys @ OCUK (excellent service as always)
Brief Spec as follows:
  • Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 Intel P67
  • Intel Core i7-2600K
  • Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
  • OCZ Vertex 3 240GB 2.5" SATA-3
  • Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC 2048MB x 2
  • Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 850W Power Supply

I am currently only getting 4.3 gHz out of the processor, which was stable after 20 passes of Linx (about 2 hours)

I upped multiplier to 44 to get 4.4 gHz, but it failed after about 44 min, and then 22 min.

Is there anything else I can do to get it more stable? Up voltage etc?
Current Voltage is 1.320
Are there more relivable stability tests I can run?
I am sure there is more to give from the processor?

What is the option in the bios to disable "Turbo" (if that is what it's called).

I read that it's best to disable it during OCing, but I'm pretty sure it's enabled as CPU-Z is showing core speed if 1600 MHz (but reads 4300 MHz under load)

Further steps will be flashing gfx cards to 6970 (I have the dual bios switch), and doing some OCing there too.

Also, any advise on OCing my memory?

I upped voltage to 1.335

Got stable 20 pass in Lin-X @ 4400
Upped to 4500, and currently stable @ 4500

Looks like it was just the voltage.

I have been testing 4500 with Prime 95 on small FFT for 3 hours. (no errors so far)
I am getting arond 56 degrees during this testing?

Is this good?
I'm not sure if it's worth pushing for 4600-4800? I might push voltage up 1 or 2 steps, but don't think is worth pushing further?

Any advise please?

If you are only up to 56degs then I think its worth pushing on faster, mine is running 4.6ghz at the moment and is running 75-80degs (A50 cooler) although I might try re-seating it and reapply the thermal paste to get it a bit lower if possible.

Cool. I’ll go for a bit higher then..

I have a few voltage steps before I hit the 1.380 recommended max (that is the correct max isn't it?)

hmm. I upped to 1.345, and went with 4600.. Got about 10 min into prime, then BSOD me...

Is 4500 my max therefore, or should I try upping the voltage a bit?

Have a look at this guide:

It's not just the VCore which needs changing. It will give you an idea of the different settings that need tweaking.

I get 4.8GHz on a 2600K using a VCore of 1.365V.

I would ignore the part about upping the BCLK as you're not really supposed to change it from 100 though upping it a tiny bit may be OK.

Use the memory settings most suitable for your RAM. Ideally it should be around 1.5V so keep it as low as possible without causing problems.
