....to one of the new MBP 15" Quad machines :cool:

Decided to downsize from my main i7 rig (and Core2 MBP) to create a little more space/portability. Gotta say it's a verrrrrrrry sweet machine, and quick when encoding mkv's for my iPad/iPhone!

Plus I sorted out a good deal from the auction place, £1300 for a new 15" 2.2 Ghz/6750M model so am well chuffed

Cheers boys. Yeah I thought the same thing but it's all registered ok with apple and the guy has sold a few now on the bay over quite a period of time so would have thought he'd have been caught by now lol. Collected from his address too not a dodgy car park deal

Wow that's over £350 less than I paid for mine with HE. Gratz I love the boot up and shut down speed on these. It takes like 3 seconds to shut down. lol

Agreed, lid closing 9/10 times for me but tbh I usually shut down at the end of the day

Just gotta sort an OptiBay out now for my Intel SSD and sorted :cool:

If the OP's machine doesn't come with the three year warranty, then it's not that much of a saving.

SSD here so the time it takes to turn on isn't much more than opening the lid. If I don't think I will be using it for 2 hours I shut it down

I've been considering one of these for uni; is it not possible to spec a new 15" with an i5? Surely that would knock quite a bit off the hefty price.

I'm sure Windows is fine in that regard these days, but I know what you mean. For whatever reason I had gained the mindset that sleep/resume couldn't be trusted and it took me a while to get over it

That makes no sense, it's been pointless shutting down a Windows machine since Vista. (aside from applying updates)

S3 sleep state > shutting down, instant on/off.
