Arma 2 Casual Meetings Thread

you guys using operation arrowhead or just arma 2? would love to get into the online side of OA but need a server and hopefully want to play with you guys. I have arma 2 also but need to root out the cd. Tend to be a helicopter pilot on these games though in a support/attack role as thats where i tend to work best.

I think we'd be using Operation Arrowhead as more people would have that but it's up to the OP/missions that we play. Domination, Insurgency and Warfare (The main modes/missions) tend to be standalone OA compatible too.

You're welcome to join us, the more the merrier. :D
 
thankyou shall look into downloading all the mods etc, is the DLC worth it? but yeah shall look into joining you guys :)

In the 1.59 patch, it includes BAF and PMC lite. This means that you can play BAF/PMC missions but don't get the high quality sounds and textures, so I recommend that you try them out in the editor to see if you like them (The models/content).

I have British Armed Forces and absolutely love it, especially the Wildcat. :cool: It's good to support the developers too, so I need to get my act together and buy PMC. :o
 
Ive got OA and BAF on Steam and A2 on retail DVD, can i make this into a Combined Ops package? i want to be able to use the content from OA and A2 and BAF in missions.

All you need is ACE, JSRS is a client side sound mod. Download the latest version of SixUpdater (2.4), select your ArmA 2 directory and follow these instructions:

1. Click the "Mods" tab.

2. Right click the "@Ace" mod and select "add mod to preset"

3. Make sure you have:

@Ace
@ACEX
@ACEX_USNavy
@ACEX_RU
@ACEX_SM (Optional sound mod)
@CBA
@CBA_OA (Only for standalone OA users)

..-listed in the "Presets" tab to the left.

4. Click the big green button to run the updater.

5. Download ArmA II Launcher

6. Select your mods, select options, save and run.


Make sure you have these selected in the launcher for best performance:

Skip Splash Screen
Empty World
Max Memory

Jesus christ! only 8Gb and its taking forever :( Still 1.5 hours off then need to download ACE, think i'll not be playing till tomorrow.

Do i need to download ACE for both A2 and OA? or just copy to my OA folder also?!

I'm starting the server/game up now, filter for "132nd" and join TeamSpeak if you're interested. Don't worry Wynthorpe, when it's done you'll have a great time. ACE isn't that big anyway.

A shame u guys diddnt make it. i played coop with one guy from OCMissileMooseUK and it was practiclaly just me and him for an hour trying to clear a town.

It was tough and we was basiclaly pinned down until two new guys joined the server and came in and supported us! we then managed to clear the town and went into another area where the oil rigs where in a massive open space and the two new guys provided cover and support via there humvee while me and MissileMoose went by foot and cleared the area! We then approached another town and all of 4 of us went on foot and split into two teams of 2. we managed to clear a few areas there but died a few times as it was very challenging.

overall a fantastic session and what amazed me is how cool two random guys from nowhere came in and instead of acting like COD kids running and gunning, they actually coordinated with us and we worked great as a team!
 
MissileMoose. shall we create this same thread over in the BIS forum so we can egenerate more interest and players?

We will use this more as a noob casual arma 2 clan to help newcomers get to grips with thisgame?

im not reallya newcomer as i have had this game since day one but have not played it for time but i would be willing to help the other guys who have not played this game before.
