Hi there, my mate wants to refresh his machine which is used purely for gaming.

He has a case, monitor and OS but needs most other things including PSU.

Now I think he wants it to last a while and wants it to perfrom well with recent games releases and potentially BF3.

Is it possible to come up with two specs, one of around £400 and one of around £500.

Cheers

I meant over the i3 2120 but the i5 2300 is a lot better, go with stulid's build. You get free shipping as well so minus £10.

I assumed as it's mainly for gaming an i3 2120 with a (potential) 6970 would be a better option (or would it just be a bottleneck or something?)

Also, DefiantAsh, he doesn't need the case which takes you to £500 :)

personally id have the quad, 2500k or stulids, keeps your system up to date for future games etc.

Also BF3 looks intense, so id like a quad, but a dual core should do just fine.

oo, better then :)

msi c45 doesn't support crossfire but that's only necessary if the op plans to use it lol

You know you could use the Seagate barracuda;) and Sony make nice DVD burners dont you think?;)

I know, stuck it on as my attempt to please stulid, which seems to be difficult, at the moment anyway.

So its either oc on a good board without xfire, or oc on a crap board with xfire? well stulid implied that i was incorrect so :)

ok stulid, its like GD now, stacking up my posts, i better not get banned for this :)

Theres basically two options in this thread.

much better GPU's for a gaming PC, with a CPU that cant be overclocked (does it need too?;))

lower end GPU with a CPU that can be overclocked.
