Gears of War 3 Dated (Official blah blah)

Played a lot tonight. Pretty bored of it already tbh, not much depth to the multiplayer. It's not like we weren't winning either, with 2:1 k/d ratios being the norm.
 
I never liked Gears in random matches even with a team of friends. The best fun I ever had was 4v4 friends in gears 1.

Sadly no one ever cares or wants to play like that because they care about unlocks, skins, emblems and other gay stuff from ranking up.

In fact I prefer to play all my games like that but few people are ever interested. The team tactical we used to play on Graw was always fun, whenever I play competitive games on live someone is always angry :D

Good point.

I think Cod has spoilt me, and I can no longer play without having stuff to unlock!

I think I'm the same to be honest but you do make a good point Danny. Maybe my blood pressure would come down a bit if we played like that :p

I honestly have more fun killing each other for the banter than some random yank. I think that's why i get bored so quickly with Cod games now. Atleast before with open chat I could abuse them.

Haha I never bother rank 70 standard out the box emblems etc.
 
I am enjoying the beta but it is getting annoying now, there is no team balace so you get your behind handed to you for 3 rounds. Friends is where its at!

It's funny you should say that because I never played Gears 1 ranked games. I always played player matches. I met a load of people who I still play with now and we then just started playing private matches.
Players matches in Gears one were great fun,especially when you kept swapping the map rotation around and even swapped around what weapons spawned where. And playing with friendly fire on was hilarious. I remember one match I killed my entire team in one go with the Hammer Of Dawn :o
Gears 2 private matches are vastly more fun than public ones.
I'f quite happily play private in Gears 3 but it's finding a full group of players that's the problem.
 
Yeah I was the same Biron, we used to play a round then juggle the teams for balance. I will happily play player matches if there are enough people :)
 
Need to watch a few matches on youtube, I know I'm not bothered about participating in betas, I end up never doing.

Undecided if I will buy, although I'll probably get pressured by a friend to get it >_>.
 
Wow I need to reorientate my eyes after playing cod for years. When you do the roadie run the shaking, jerkiness and general lack of smoothness was giving me a headache.

Are the buttons the same as the older games?

I kept making COD type selections to change weapons and don't remember the chain saw requiring a button press?

Looking good though, if I can unlearn years of COD.

We used to stick everybody in the in the middle after every round so you got random teams. It made it much more fun. I don't understand why they reduced the options for private matches in gears 2 :confused: All you got were weapon swapping and friendly fire.

Looking good though, if I can unlearn years of COD.

I don't really play COD anymore so don't have that problem :p

It's a nice change from Blops/Reach, but I kinda agree with the poster who said that it feels like it lacks depth.

3rd person FPS always feels a bit clunky to me, and the character customisation doesn't offer any different styles of play really. I've racked up about 30 matches now and I'm already starting to lose interest. I'm only continuing to play for the special beta unlocks in case I decide to play the full game.

I'm guessing the singleplayer will be a good laugh co-op like the previous games, but I think it'll be a rent not buy game.
 
Managed 4 games this morning before I felt like I needed an eye test :(

I will definately buy this for the SP and MP training mode which I loved on Gears2 but I can't see me playing the MP unless it's friends matches. People are just miles ahead of me now to play this ranked solo.
 
I may just buy an XBox to play this when it comes out. I have played the first 2 and was impressed
 
Well I've played this far too much over the last few days :o

Just did my 100th Match, got the Gold Retro Lancer and the 100kills to bring it to retail.

Unlocked all the characters, and all the weapon skins apart from the ones for week 3 and 4.

I'm prepped and ready for the full thing now, can't wait :D
 
I love the spawn system in this game... I was playing capture the leader (I was the leader), fast forward a few minutes into the game and I'm pinned down in my own spawn and the next thing I hear is a shotgun from behind, yep the game decided it would be a fantastic idea to spawn the enemy right next to me while I am the objective :rolleyes:
