£300!! Might as well have just kept it until test ran out, then scrapped it.

It was on p/h for £345, had one bidder, the guy who took it for £300.
Its a POS that my mate wanted rid of, so I sold it for him.
He was going to scrap it before the MOT had even run out! - Wanted it gone so he had space for his new van.
Bar a sticking caliper , the cars actually sound - but still a POS.

So they are clowns for offering £50, yet all you could manage was £300?
What exactly would you have wanted them to buy it for? What would they even do with it? If they were to retail it as a trade entity it would need to be prepared for sale first - and the best you managed was 300 quid, not worth it for them at anything more than 50 quid is it?
If it was a '51 plate Omega and you couldnt do better than 300 quid it must be have been a proper, proper nail anyway.

I sold it to the first & only bidder, actually, the car was fine. I probably could have got better than £300 buy my mate was getting rid regardless, one way or another,so I thought I could try to better the £200 odd scrap he had been offered - I described it as a POS as it is imo a POS! - just as any other 2001 era Vauxhall Omega with 150k on the clock are!
As I say, he was going to weigh it in on Tuesday so I tried it on P/H first, its gone in under 24 hours. £100 more than scrap value. Job done as far as I'm concerned.

I have a headache. Is no-one reading what Fox is typing? These websites are designed for people who just want to get rid of a car ASAP. Of course they are going to offer less than what you could get from a private sale.

I appreciate that fully - I'm having a bite because it seemed to me he was bleating about my friend effectively being asked to give them his car! - £50 offer, £50 admin fee.
My initial opinion of them (We buy any car) being a bunch of tossers stands.
And he had the right to say no - and did so.
It's a business, not a charity. Some people might be grateful of the complete lack of hassle in getting rid of an old Omega. Some people might consider it an insult and not bother.
The key is that its a business and nobody forces you to accept the offer.
The only part of WBAC I disagree with is haggling down the price based on loads of non-issues AFTER you visit them. This is wrong - but the offer they make on the website? To be fair, whats the problem?
I think the offers they make are low - but I understand exactly why they do it. And my response? I simply wont use them, as I'm entitled to do as a savvy consumer.
You seem totally outraged that a commercial organisation wouldnt offer more than 50 quid for an Omega that was such a state you only managed 300 quid yourself on Ebay!
Nothing wrong with the Omega, i dont know about that one specifically but i'd have to think hard about which one id take out of your 200k+ first gen e39 and one, they are perfectly decent cars.

Anyway, yes WBAC.com are a business, no, I don't like them, nor Vauxhalls.
I dont have any conclusions to draw, the omega is a decent car. No need to have any hate for them at all other than brand snobbery, most vauxhalls are crappy, this isnt one of them.
The E39 is the nicer car, i didnt directly compare them, but compared to a really old 200k+ first gen one i wouldnt have a totally easy time picking i must say.

I was comparing directly between mine & his.
Sure, the Omega is a decent car, just not his..... Nothing particularly wrong with his as such other than its got that "old feel" to it & it had about 10 owners, my e39 is on its second.
Whilst he's now looking at e39's, he's quickly found mine is the exception rather than the norm.
Anyway, back on topic....
