as in title, i just killed this after it flew into my room, they seem to be around a lot more now

(yes i know the picture is massive, but just trying to show the size of the thing !)

the picture doesnt show its full size, but it was probably about an inch and half long and maybe a cm thick :/

have to admit i **** myself when it flew in

any idea what species this is? obviously a hornet of some sort....?

Probably an asian hornet or similar. They're getting more common, it seems - there was a thread about one trapped under a glass not two days ago.

Edit: European hornet. Got my continents mixed up :confused:
