I have these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-288-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

but they only fit at the two last memory slots as they are too tall to fit under the heat sink. Can I add these

or

to my motherboard (ma790xt-udp4)?

Why are the dominators so expensive in comparison?

Yep, I would personally go for the XMS3 as it's pretty slutty - plus it's default timings (XMP) are exactly the same as your present memory.

ok, cheers :)

although looking at the xms3 again, it looks like the heat spreader is slightly higher than the pcb.

Np.

I've just double checked your MB spec - what voltage is your present memory set at?

The reason i ask is that your MB spec lists DIMM socket for 1.5V which is fine for 2 sticks but may not be enough when all DIMM slots are in use. What's your maximum voltage available in the BIOS - as you may need the full 1.65V to run 4 sticks.

Great - looks like you have voltage settings to spare.

It may be worth checking if you can get your present set stable at 1.65V (it's default voltage) or lower. If you can then hopefully all 4 strips will run at 1.65V or below.

I'm running XMS3 and it's happilly ticking over at 1.5V - it maybe the Corsair Dominator will run just as low?

EDIT: Sorry just noticed this.

It is but by a very small amount - is your space that limited?

What cooler have you got - it may be that i or someone else has fitted/using the same cooler with similar low profile memory?

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 should be fine with the XMS3.

Memtest is the best torture test - run from a bootable ISO. I'll find the link...

Here you go link. Scroll down to Memtest86+ V4.20 (25/01/2011) and the Pre-compiled Bootable ISO zip.

It is but the process involves stress testing the memory - so it's both.

If your memory cannot operate at the lower voltage settings memtest should identify this fairly quickly. Your memory may well be able to operate below 1.6V - some people are running dominators at 1.5V like my XMS3.

I would also prime95 for a few hrs too.

I only suggest the lower voltages because if you can get your dominators to run at >1.6V you'll have more voltage options if you run into problems running 4 sticks. (Plus their max tested voltage is 1.65V)

Below is an image of the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 using XMS3:

i have the same ram and cooler (different motherboard though).
It is a tight fit (if i had have known how tight i would have put them in before the cooler)
However the plastic fan surround was all that got in my way and luckily it was easy to bend this surround slightly (be careful !!) to allow squeezing the ram in to slot 1 or 2. so basically i am saying they do fit, but only just.
