I want to test the airflow of my 600T and wonder if anyone has tried to use a smoke pen or smoke matches?

Will the smoke damage anything inside my case?

Smoke pen ? Incense stick I have used.
Smoke from cigarettes is probably most commonly worst, look inside the case of a smoker and you will find piles of dust. Ive removed a fist full from a mates pc HSF, cpu temp was like 100 and he wondered why it ran slow

I dont think permanent damage occurrs with smoke so long as we are not talking wafting a burning tire inside the pc lol

I think when people do case smoke tests it's usually in an empty case :p.

EDIT: retract that lol, obv you can do it over a build :).

Thinking a bit more on what will actually happen if I light 1x smoke match and hold it in front of my case.....not a lot probably...I may have to light the whole box to get enough smoke.....and also find some way of looking into my case with the solid panels on the side.......

Hmmmmm...not thoughtout very well on my side!

I'm not 100% sure but as you can see in the video below silverstone used a smoke machine to test the positive air pressure in their case which running so i think it would be fine.

+ 1, you use to be able to get smoke pelits from a joke shop, might work just cut one half something like that. LoL take the battery out your smoke detector if you have one. :D

Clever using the pvc plastic side panel, suppose you could mount fans on it too if you have side fans. I'd be very interested in seeing my airflow, was thinking about it this morning after moving my case around a bit. Smoke pens eh?

Bit of smoke and a red laser might work quite well.
I dont think using a naked flame near anything expensive is that clever, we'll have people suggesting candles next, just no lol

I've used smoke pellets for testing air flow in cases a few years ago.
You can get pellets for flue testing which last from 30 seconds up to 8 minutes, & in various colours.
I used a piece of perspex temporary fixed & sealed in place of side panel on a case.

My setup was outside, case on a table with the pellet in front, which I light, then placed a 4" 90 degree plastic soil pipe bend over the pellet to direct smoke through front of case.

A lot of smoke is produce, so stand well back or you cough your guts up with some of the pellets.
I found pellets easier to use compared to matches, as I used to stick matches into some blue tack, & as they burned, they fall a part.

Never got around to posting videos on utube though.

Don't use smoke bombs, THEY will stain your case.

Tbh, if your components are running cool enough, the individual temps of each part should let you know if your case airflow is good enough?

Just looked on the bay, never realised how cheap you can pick up a smoke machine, & 5 litres of smoke liquid is on around £7 or so.
