But the Vipers are 4pin, yet the headers on mobo are only 3pin? Would that make a difference?

You have a 4pin CPU HEADER TOWARDS THE TOP, THE 4PIN HEADER FOR THE CPU IS JUST TO ONE SIDE OF THE BOTTOM LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE CPU SOCKET.

Yeah I have the cpu fan plugged into that one.

Di you follow threst of my instructions -

Make sure the fan header from the Viper on the venom is connected to the CPU Header 4pin, see manual should be top left on mobo.

Get bios up, look for PC HEALTH STATUS AT THE BOTTOM > ENTER ~> at the bottom for CPU Smart FAN Control is set to Enabled > CPU SMART FAN MODE > SET TO PWM, REMEMBER TO SAVE AND EXIT F10.

Specifies how to control CPU fan speed. This item is configurable only if CPU Smart FAN Control is set to Enabled.

Auto Lets the BIOS automatically detect the type of CPU fan installed and sets the optimal CPU fan control mode. (Default)

Voltage Sets Voltage mode for a 3-pin CPU fan.

PWM Sets PWM mode for a 4-pin CPU fan.

Yeah done that mate. I've just figured out the CPU fan is fine according to the bios (says something else in blackbox 2.1), it's just the rear exhaust that is running at full whack.

How come the front fan is running fine at 1000rpm when the rear is at 2000rpm, even though they are both into SYS_FAN1 and SYS_FAN2?

Have alook on your cd you got with the mobo under utililies have a look for easytune 6 i think you can alter the fan settings better download the latest version.

Hi, check this out AMD Overdrive, its a good utility you can control your fans if l have read it properly.

Thanks for the links mate, but none of them work unfortunately. With easytune6 I move the fan speed down but nothing happens.

Sorry m8 my heads done in, a pwm splitter would be your best option then they would only speed up when the Cpu one speeds up, if that will do?

Yeah I have ordered it already, should arrive Wednesday.

I'll just have to deal with it until then I suppose!

Wow that splitter is awesome, so much quieter now. Bought a 140mm BitFenix white fan to go in the front and it is outstanding. Only thing is though with this new quietness I can hear a little clicking sound coming from somewhere!
