With the rising cost of petrol, insurance and ever increasing number of cars on the road it could be argued that driving is becoming more of a chore than a hobby.

Luckily for me I don't need my car to get to work and since September have only covered 1400 miles in the thing. Usually to take me back to see my parents.

However tonight I managed to get a clear run from Glossop all the way down the snake pass to the Bamford turn off. The sun was shining the music was playing in the background, and a straight stretch of brilliant tarmac ahead. The trick I have found with the road is to not be aggressive on the straights as you will end up catching some dodderer doing 4mph. Instead the trick is to try to maintain the limits around the bends, the ones you do you have to slow down for the fun is selecting the right gear to power out of the corner.

It reminded me why I loved driving, its a shame the road isn't like that all the time.

So OCUK motors, when was the last time you remembered why you love driving?

Excellent time to post this :

I was out at 6am this morning. Roads were completely deserted. Brilliant time to go for a drive.

Now if only i had something as special as the CLK Black to enjoy my drive with.

I don't do many miles so I can plan my driving so that I avoid peak periods.

Sounds pretty sad but I love motorway driving (even at legal speeds) as much as b-roads and flowing a-roads, doesn't even need to be in anything special either, I just enjoy it.

Can't stand traffic or ***** on the road though and that is what makes driving unbearable, I'll often plan things so I can miss traffic.

Last year, Me and two others had a swift drive upto Hartside and back. Most other times it's feeling more and more like a chore.

Saying that, I still hate being a passenger and always offer to drive if I can. God knows why (it's not a nervous thing either) I'm just freaky.

Took the wife out in the Westfield yesterday for a spot of lunch at a pub that's on a great driving road.

Everytime I jump in that car it makes me grin like a schoolboy.

When I was driving along a bit tired and slowly/boringly, looked to my side at a red light, and a red golf III gti was looking at me in a way like ''you want a race''.

The moment it went green and I slammed my whole weight on the throttle is the moment, my whole body became warm, I could literally feel the warmth shock traveling through my body , I was insta awake, and a large grin on my face :D.

It's once of the best feelings there is, first drive like a boring granddad for 20-30 minutes and feel like falling asleep due to boredom/slow driving, then floor it, always insta smile insta awake :D.

Everytime I take the DC2 out for a blast :D

Plenty of good roads round here and took a trip to the Evo triangle last weekend, just awesome :)

i'm a taxi driver and spend 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week ferrying people between a and b round busy glasgow roads in a rattly diesel vectra. not fun, now took the LCR out last weekend on my own just for a blast and have to say its the most fun i've had in a long time, just taking a well setup car round some twisties brings out all sorts of enjoyment. it was a breath of fresh air

earlier today when I had a friend in the car who I hadnt really driven about much in this car, decided to give him a bit of a scare by getting the car sideways :D

Living in London it is really, REALLY difficult to 'enjoy' driving in the typical sense. The closest driving roads I know of are about 40 minutes drive away, and those are tiny country roads that used to give me a fright in my 205s, sod trying to hustle a car with twice the power and weight around them.

Sometimes you've got to enjoy the simple things. Stick some good music on and drive around town with nowhere in particular to go .

The guy I bought the DC2 off was from London, and it took us 20mins to get anywhere decent to have a proper test drive, and that was still just a dual carriageway, nothing like the roads here. Living in Wales I could never move to London, for the lack off decent roads alone :(

Proper love driving get out of work in the van or car when ever i get the chance after selling mine 2months ago :( stupid car insurance costs to much

My facebook status from last night:

Fantastic drive in the Mini Works this evening, windows open, Beach Boys 'Deuce Coupe' playing on the stereo! What a way to top off an amazing day at silverstone! Journey there in a DB5, home in a DB4! Just awesome!

Today, went to Goodwood, met up with few guys from here, looked at some amazing cars then got to drive a 911 home.

I quite like driving in the evening with these nice slow sundowns. Just cruising home from the pub with a big steak in my belly is nice. The bank holiday period seems to have brought out the spazzers so fast driving hasn't been happening much lately !
