some tramps stole the lead above my parents front door on sunday... :rolleyes:

surely cant have been worth much? anyone have any ideas im just curious of the value

I took down 40kg of good grade alu. £4.xx. was the price they offered.

Lead flashing is worth quite a bit of money (enough for a few bottles of frosty jacks certainly). Its about 80 quid for 3meters of the stuff at a certain DIY store :S

Literally changes weekly. Could be three quid or so. Ten houses on that street with similar is thirty odd quid, not much effort and no punishment for getting caught.

probably not much more than that i'd imagine, maybe someone stole it to use rather than to sell?

wish i still lived near them i would find out who it was so easy

I would say around 5Kg.

If we say it is 1200mm long and 200mm wide with a thickness of 2mm (standard) then that gives us a total ammount of lead at 480,000 cubic millimetres which is 480 cubic centimetres. Density of pure lead is 11.35g per CC then that gives us a total weight of 5448g or rounded down to 5Kg.
