Hi all, the time has come to get a new mouse, there are 4 contenders.

#1 - Razer DeathAdder Respawn - £41.99 inc VAT
#2 - Roccat Kova+ - £45.98 inc VAT
#3 - Coolermaster Sentinel Advance - £43.98 inc VAT
#4 - Logitech G9x - £47.99 inc VAT

All are under the £50 mark and i don't really wish to go over that. what i am looking at i suppose is performance & durabiliy. I did buy a 2nd hand Razer DeathAdder from an auction site but in 1 week the left mouse button's microswitch died so with that i do have some slight reservations about razer's products. Never used a mouse from either roccat or Coolermaster and while i do trust logitech's equipment the G9x is something im on the fence about.

With any luck some of you will own / have owned one of those and could give me a few pointers as to what to go for.
Cheers

Razer DeathAdder Respawn

+1

Will be my next mouse, had the original DeathAdder for nearly 4 years and can't fault it.

Personally I wouldn't chose anything other than Logitech. I owned a G5 and it started freezing up on me after a year - phoned logitech up and they sent a new G500 out to me and I've had it for about a year with no problems. Their support is good.

Logitech customer device is great.

To throw another one into the mix have a look at the ms sidewinder x8, I think it is a great gaming mouse. Charge lasts for ages. Personally always hated dragging the cable around the desk.

MX518

Logitech customer service is awesome, sent me new glide feet free of charge after having my G5 for 4years.

+1 for the mx518

had mine years and its still spot on. never missed a beat, and cheaper than all the above

Yeah it was a great mouse the mx518, i had one for a few years myself then gave it to my brother when he got his new system and i bought that Razer DeathAdder from auction and it lasted a week :( while i like the mx518 i feel like a change.

razer deathadder gets you a nice shiny new mousemat ;)

lol i ordered that same mouse mat from ocuk 2 days ago :)

Hmm looks to be an ok mouse from the reviews but i happen to hate wireless mice but ill bear it in mind anyway just in case :)

So far it's looking between Razer & Logitech.

What is Razer's support like? anyone any experience with them?

I had good support from Razer when my orochi didn't work properly in wireless mode. Got a replacement, although I'm not overly pleased with the mouse.

But I have heard that the DeathAdder is the best mouse that you can buy (for gaming) according to SC2 players.

I Had a razer death adder for 2 years untill i sold my old PC , I sure as hell will be getting another soon , I was also using the exactmat its quite expensive but they are great together !

Deathadder + free (ish) mousemat would be my choice (in fact, I made that choice). Though I now use a Kone[+] on that same mousemat - thanks for the deal OCUK...

While I love Logitech's CS, their mouse range feels lacking to me. After having a G700, I found the sensor to be a bit crap, in that it didn't feel precise. This is despite running it at the highest DPI, then turning Windows sensitivity down. I also have an MX518, but it's a little basic, and the pointer speed just isn't quite high enough due to a low DPI. Got my Kone at 6000DPI and the sensitivity turned down a bit, and it's lovely... :)

id avoid razer tbh a few of my friends that had a razer mouse died after only a few months of purchase.

mx518 / G500 / G9X <-- so any of these, but the 518 is the best for the price.

im using the g9x though and its got to be the best gaming mouse iv ever owned.

edit: didnt see the last post

Your mates must have just been unlucky, I know quite a few people with Razer mice with no dramas at all.

MX518 had that back in 2004, great mouse but nothing compared to my DeathAdder tbh.

As others have mentioned, I've been happy with the mx518 for many years and have now moved to the deathadder & black widow keyboard (with the boogie mouse pad).

As good as the mx518 was this setup feels even better.

Razor make great products when they work.

In my experience I have a Razor Diamond Back 3g that I actually got for free with a magazine subscription a few years back. I purchased a Razor Lycosa keyboard from overclockers and was one of the first to buy it. Razor admitted there was a fault with that keyboard and I was sent a free replacement from america. This replacement didnt work and so I ended up with yet another keboard. All in all very good customer service if it did take a while to get sorted out. I am actually using one of the keyboards that was replaced becuase it was only the Media buttons that didnt work and I split coke all over the working one.

I purchased a Razor Naga in November of 2009 and it stop working some time in Jaunary of 2011 I thought i was out of luck but it turned out that the Naga actually had a 2 year warrenty. I contacted razor and after a few emails my Naga was replaced for free and I didnt even have to send the old one back.

My Diamond back 3g has worked flawlessly for 5 years.

I used to have the G9 and the braided USB wire wore out after a year of use. I couldn't get it replaced because I didn't have a serial number to send off to Logitech (That's what you get for buying display products) so I ordered the MX518. I've gotta say, I preferred the G9 for the free wheel, but other than that the MX518 is still very capable.

At this price point, it's mostly a matter of personal preference (barring any obvious shortcomings). Get to a local retailer and see first hand. The Razers and Logitechs should be available at least.

I would go with the Razer, or possibly the Xai.

I love my SteelSeries Ikari Laser. I loved the price even more. Found two in Currys for £30 each; got to the counter and they were £20 each. My brother nagged the second one off me, he liked mine that much :D

A friend uses the Razer Mamba, and while it is a nice mouse, it doesn't feel like £100 + worth of mouse.
