Hi there,

Unfortunately for no apparent reason I came in from the garden this evening to witness my pc shut down on it's own. I thought that's a bit odd as I have had no trouble at all with my rig for a long time. I thought with the random shutdown that it could be a psu problem and after testing it definitely is.

I am aware that the psu comes with a 7 year warranty so it's covered for sure, but I was wondering on how good Corsairs RMA is. Do they normally send out replacements with no hassle?

Would be good to hear on others experiences regarding rma with them.

:)

im petty sure their rma service is fine, its just the whacky countrys you have to send te PSU to to get it sorted out, i think itslike new zeland or something as apparently they dont have a service centre in the UK, postage wi most likely be anything from £10-£20 on the royal mail but im not sure,,

Well thats what you get for going into the garden! :p

Just kidding - I can't vouch for their PSU RMAs, but with RAM, Corsair was excellent. They turned it around within a 5-7 working days for me.

I had the exact same problem with mine two weeks ago. You have to send the PSU back to Holland, which aint cheap considering the PSU weighs 4.5Kg. Also make sure that however you send it, you get a registered delivery (i.e. signature required on delivery), as they managed to lose mine after UPS delivered it. As other people have said, they send you a new unit back within a week.

Just an update to let you know. . .

I received my psu back today via UPS!

Brand new in retail packaging. Took a little longer than I thought but they did say that there was going to be a slightly longer delay for some reason. Still I can't complain at least I have some spare cables now which might come in handy.

One thing I forgot to mention before was I did change the fan on my old psu for a 1000rpm version (compared to the original 2000rpm) because it was too loud. I know at the time when I first bought it a year ago different fans were being used, some noisey and others quiet. As luck has it this one is a lot quieter so it must have an improved fan in it. I'm just glad they did not notice I changed the fan in the one I sent back! :D

Overall good RMA service from Corsair (albeit a little expensive to send to the Netherlands).

:)

Maybe you went a bit too far going down to 1,000rpm with it and it slowly cooked itself. Was that 1,000rpm all the time or still thermally controlled?

Anyway good result as changing fans is supposed to wipe warranties.

just for reference, how long did it take?

I sent it on the 6th May.

With regards to using a 1000rpm fan maybe that was too low although the psu itself was never hot, I guess I will never know. I won't be changing the fan on this one as it's very quiet.

I'm very happy now anyway. I've missed my gaming rig! ;)

Maybe it took longer because they had to determine whether the fan swap was the cause of failure. I've changed 3 PSU fans now and had no ill effects. I just think that they have them far too fast and noisy.

Well I don't think I will be changing the fan on this one, it's quiet enough.

Plus I don't want to push my luck! ;)

im surprised they changed it at all since you swapped the fan out

normally there's a warranty void sticker to stop you opening it and if that's broken your screwed with most places

really good of corsair to still exchange it
