For the lenses you will have to be more specific.

50mm AF Nikkor 1.8
28-70 AF Centon f3.5-4.5 (glass cover over distance scale missing)
70-210 Tokina f4.5-?

On a more serious note I think we should have 5DII sub forum...for 5DII owners only, to get in you need to type in your 5DII serial number.

It'll help keep the peasants out and aid in the separation of the classes? Agreed?

Agreed good sir! We need to keep the blaggards and urchins away from our fine intellectual and technologically superior discussions! Bully!

Therefore I would like to propose an additional condition to the sub forum, that only CPS members of high ranking should be able to enter such a forum.

Of course we would need to post photographic evidence of our membership cards and preferably evidence of our fine photographic collection including lenses. Also we should post photographic evidence with our backup 5 series body, our sensibilities would be offended if we had to look at pictures taken with any other upstart camera *snort*.

We should also not let the peasants think they may stand a chance to join our exclusive club, I propose a x2 5 series body minimum for membership, that'll keep the 'oiks in their place!

Anywho that should keep the riff raff out, what colour is your membership good sir?

;)
All in jest.

A 5DII forum is a little odd. Soon to be outdated when the 5D3 arrives.

How about we have a FF forum and we let you in as a junior member amongst us 1Ds boys?

:-P

Andrew

youd have to have a crop sensor forum as well in that case, that would be where all the cool kids hang out ;)

Nikon D700 is the direct competitor to the 5D2 and its AF completely and I mean completely owns it.

They will HAVE to upgrade it to stay in the game...I've found it limiting several times at weddings and have had to work around it, if I had had a 1 series (ie a decent AF it would have not been a problem)

My predictions for the 5D3

Massively overhauled AF system
body will remain the same (physically)
Slightly upped MP count - Maybe in the high 20's (not that it needs it)
Built in wireless flash control
Uprated Dual-digic processor to handle the additional data

I doubt we'll see full weather sealing, dual memory cards etc cos then your just taking from the 1 series market.

The Nikon D700 gives you the full weather sealing, dual memory cards, the full works of the D3. Actually, it has some extras like built in flash, sensor cleaning (the original D3 didn't). All in a smaller more compact, but still really rugged full mag-alloy body. There are some minor differences, but nothing important for most people.

Nikon seemed to think putting a D3 in a smaller body would not distract too many sales from the D3. Will Canon put a 1Ds MK4 in a smaller body for the 5DmkIII?

Personally I doubt it. Nikon as a a brand is know for its top class bodies with superior ergonomics. Canon tend to push the MPs as a marketing tool and cost save on the body.

Sadly the 5DmkIII and the Nikon D800 wont be cheap. my eyes are open for the D700 used prices to fall.

Of those the only none of vague interest is the 50mm.

The rest I would put on ebay with no reserve (or like £10-20). They aren't worthless but aren't valuable.

got it home and fired up, but its dark... so no images to be posted yet. What is amazing though is that the 50mm f1.4 is soft on my 500d, but on FF its suddenly nice and sharp (and very very sharp past f4)... weird. the extra DOF is just beautiful.

my 500d now feels like a toy.

anyone know whats the minimum CF speed i can get away with. I have 400x which they chucked in, it seems a bit excessive so i will prbably sell it on the bay and buy a few slower speed cards

errrr, my slowest card is 30mbs, fastest is 60mbs. They are all fine, what can get full quickly is the buffer in burst mode.

Weird, sounds like one or more pieces of your gear might not be quite within Canon's tolerance, as the 50 should be sharp on both camera's, although the FF does utilize more of the glass, so it effectively increases the resolution of the lens, particularly if the lens is sharp across the entire frame.

When I get a new camera or lens, I send them over to these guys to accurately calibrate each component, under warranty.
I'v found the closer the camera and lens are to the 'ideal' spec, the less likely you are to get an image that is 'soft' as your AF has more margin for error before your focus point is OOF.

Meh, it's not what camera you have it's how you use it...;)

Mine is a very well used 400D.... If your camera doesn't have scuffs, worn down grips and dirt in all the recessed areas then you can't talk!:p

went for a quick stroll last night so this is really a just a snap

cant wait to do my first shoot with it... i am blown away by the quality of images campared to the 500d, there is a creamy quality to them that is just so pleasing to the eye. Oh, and 50mm on a full frame is a heavenly length!

Another hug plus point is my new found ability to crop and retain all the detail... i thank you ff sensor!
