You're right you don't.
1. Just because they are from Saudi Arabia, doesn't mean we need to start a war with that country.
2. Afghanistan came before Iraq.
3. Iraq was not about terrorism.
4. We bomb Libya with authorisation from the UN and the League of Arab States.
5. We don't have the above for Syria, but we certainly aren't "turning a blind eye".
It essentially was tbh... the US wanted bin laden and the Taliban didn't hand him over - this was the main reason or excuse for the invasion just as WMDs were for Iraq. The aim of the mission then became to capture or kill bin laden and other al Qaeda leaders, remove the Taliban from power and destroy al qaeda.
Obviously we didn't just stop in Iraq when it became apparent that no WMDs were present and with Afghanistan we're not just going to withdraw immediately either. Most of the aims have been met but the Taliban still poses a threat and it would be a bit silly to withdraw without a proper handover to the Afghans.

Not unhappy he's dead. Will be watching the politcal fall out with interest over the next few weeks to see if this causes an escalation of violence in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Americans got their man... it was pretty much a done deal that if they tracked him down they would go in very hard. Personally I think they would be more scared of what would happen if they put him on public trial than the potential risk of just killing him.

Scum is scum but is this setting a precedent? Will anyone that the state deems undesirable be put up against a wall and shot? The world just seems to be acting like this can happen in a movie, so it is right in real life. Who's law was broken here?
I mean you can expect the KGB to put radioactive teabags in a defectors cup but America as an extention of the UK should be classified as the "good guys" and consequently have to retain certain standard of decorem such as not executing someone who "refused to surrender"?

The US made it's way through Iraq's most wanted and people were not so vocal then in condemning as they are with Osama's demise.
At Megatron, you can hardly blame the spec ops community. They are there to do exactly what senior commanders tell them and in this case the order came from the commander in chief, ie the president himself and he made capturing or killing Osama the top priority when he came to office.

he still should have been put on trial but i guess america were scared of attacks if he were taken alive. where as if hes simply dead radicals might just accept it
