So im gonna save up some money from a job oer the summer, and im planning on giving my 6870 cf to my brother, so i thought id invest in nvidia cards as i personally prefer them over amd ones, so im down to three different choices

gtx 480 sli, gtx 570 sli or gtx 580 sli?
and if so which brand?

Im looking for a card with good performance and low temps, maybe MSI Twin Frozr versions?

And also, what kind of PSU would i need? I have a 750W right now (in sig) but im worried it wont run those with much left for the rest of the system...

Thanks!

*forgot to add, I will be getting a new monitor too which is gonna be 1920 x 1080, thanks!

Personally I would keep your 6870 crossfire, it's a very powerful set up for years to come. And for 1920x1080, it will play everything in maximum detail no problem.

But if you wish to get a new card, since it's a summer job, I would wait for later this year. The 7000 series from AMD and Kepler from Nvidia should be out then.

Is it that you're going to give your cards to your brother so you need new ones or are you getting new cards so you may as well give the old ones away?

If it's the latter then it's a massive waste of money.

Might be worth keeping the money for Kepler as mentioned above, if the rumours are anything to go by at all it should be good and we should start to see a bit of public info on it by then.

As above, I would suggest keeping your 6870CF system for the time being. Instead, spending your money on an SSD or an IPS monitor would IMHO be a better use of you money compared to buying a new Nvidia graphics card considering what you already have.

As for your brother, have you considered buying him something new - the HD 5850 for £114 is a great card for a low price (as is the HD 5830 for £77 this week).

ah thats awesome, thanks!

oh yeah and one more thing, i know no one knows for sure, but will the hd 5850 be able to handle upcoming games like guild wars 2 and tera? coz were both looking forward to playing them, my bet is yes?

5850 is a great little card, a bit better than my GTX 460 and with my 460 I can play any game at maximum settings on at 1920 x 1080 so you'll have no problem playing the latest games with the 5850. Adding another 5850 and going crossfire will give you a really powerful graphics combination, if you look at some benchmarks that combination is more powerful than a 580 in quite a few games :p
