Watch your speed pips!

I'd say a Micra is more dangerous actually, if you take an M car and a Micra travelling at 70mph and tell them to stop at exactly the same time, who will stop first? The proper car, with its proper sized brakes ;)

You do realise you've totally glossed over the fact that an M car weighs almost twice as much as a micra.
Brakes are sized to stop the MASS of the car as well not just by it's engine power.

I don't think it will work legally.

They get you at point A, then point B and work out if you broke limits inbetween by the time and roads it took to get there.

I'll just say I went off road between points, and when asked what route, I'll say I can't remember except it was a great short cut

Yeah right, you went off road in a town. :D

Not strictly accurate as you won't find high end performance brakes on all cars of the same size/weight, but we're going slightly OT here :)

Dont keep hating old grannies id rather have 50 more of those than 1 **** in a saxo with his 3 mates on board, busting some tuuuuunes at 50 in a 30 zone.

But the problem with young Mr Saxo Driver is that he won't be paying enough attention to the road along with his entirely inappropriate speed. He doesn't have the inevitable accident just because of his speed, he has it because he is distracted by his tunes/mates/some bird on the roadside etc, probably along with an unrealistic opinion of his own driving skill.

Grannies are often a danger at very low speed.

Again, speed isn't the issue.

Now we got 2 problems here, 1 is the amount of beer iv drunk at my little brothers barbecue and 2 is will gill is late to pick me up, im stranded in penge.

im just saying that grannies are the lesser evil than those chavs!!!

I would much rather see someone doing 100mph in a Ferarri on the motorway than some knuckle dragger in his clapped out old transit van doing 60mph to be honest :o

Especially as the Ferrari could probably stop a lot quicker from 100 than the van could even doing 60...

If the system is as good as the marketing guff has you believe, then it will cost a fortune and therefore no council will be able to afford it let alone justify it, in the current economic climate.

As always, "time to market" is one of the most important things for any product. This company has missed the boat by a few years.

They'll just put council tax up to pay for it ;)

Yay for nanny state! Love this new system...

Can't see a problem in the 30 zones of London. Anything to slow people down a bit so the roads become a slightly more pleasant place to be. Drivers seem to forget that there are other road users: pedestrians and cyclists and it becomes very unpleasant for them when drivers won't stick to 30. Plus there's the issue of noise. Ever noticed how quiet it is when cars are creeping round at 30? Don't need to go much faster than that before the tyre rumble starts to get very imposing.
