Wouldn't surprise me in the least that he was armed and did shoot back. From what I saw yesterday the team went in on the ground floor and exchanged gunfire with 2 guys on the ground floor. (body guards presumably). It took about 40 mins in all and Osama was killed in the last five. This means he had about half an hour to ready himself upstairs. I can't imagine he sat there crying in a corner. I suspect in the end he was told in Arabic to drop his gun and surrender. He didn't and was killed.

He was checked and identity info collected. He was destroyed the second after the gun battle. Perhaps read some news before going of half cocked and missing everything that has been reported.

And you suddenly know where he lives and his decoration tastes just lol.
As for liver there was no proof for that and is not the only death story with no proof. What a load of bs you come out with.

It would either have been done by the book, or not at all.

Conspiracy theories kicking around the net vary from Osama never existed and was invented by the media, to Osama's body being taken back to the US for autopsy.

The latter seems plausible, although somewhat pointless.

the safest thing to do would be to shoot on sight, irrespective of any surrender attempt.

if they took him alive there would be a veritable plague of hostage taking by every 2 bit, militant islamist leaning, terrorist cell/group/organisation the world over, all seeking to piggy back Bin Ladens notoriety & "big up" there cause in the process. far far safer for the general public to kill on sight ( & obviously far safer for an Amercian presidents job security & chances of re-election ).

Don't underestimate the propaganda victory the west would have if they could bring him humbled and in shackles to a court room. Sure it might lead to some hostage taking and exchange demands, but the positive benefits it would have for the west would far outweigh many other concerns.

I do agree thou that it is best that he was killed as the ensuing drama of capture would just be a circus.

I kind of hope he did die with a gun in his hand. It would be a fitting end to the world's most notorious bad guy. Watching Saddam Hussein being dragged from a hole like a scruffy rat was just anti-climatic.

i wonder what osama actually did during his last few years , seems he got out of terrorism does anyone think maybe he hads regrets over it all and maybe he thought he had just wasted his life?
i suspect he was radicalised by some religious nutters at a fairly young age we all know how the fanatical muslims prey on the young and vunerable.

with all the money and charisma he had he could have lived a brilliant life and done great things if he dedicated his energy to doing good rather than dedicating the majority of his life to evil.
 
They should have wrapped him in bacon and fed him to the pigs.

the americans couldn't lie about finding him (eg imagine the backlash if found to be untrue) and probably killed him, and possibly buried him at sea

it's not impossible that he was captured alive, for gentle questioning, or perhaps killed and refrigerated or something

saying he's dead and buried knocks wind out of immediate reprisals i would think

it sounds like he means the area is a restricted area and when anyone moves in the neighbourhood they have to show the army some ID so they know who you are, if thats rigth surely they would have known exactly who was building an expensive house in the area because they would have taken a strong intrest

Meh, I think Osama bin laden was a ****er who had it coming to him, but it does sadden me to think of how death is so cheap nowadays.
