The Mrs and I go to the cinema every week.

This one in particular we fancy watching a horror.

The two on at the moment are Scream 4 or Insidious.

Pro's and cons of each please, to help us decide.

Thanks.

Scream is not and has never been scary. Never been particularly good either.

If you want to be scared, watch Insideous, I've heard it's pretty good.

Insidious. It'll make you jump & is well worth a watch, Shrooms is another horror well worth a watch an all.

Insidious starts off quite well (a solid 6/10 by the mid-way point) but fails dramatically at during the second half, and gets very poor at the end.

Scream is Scream...you know what to expect I imagine. If I had the choice now I would see that.

Decided to go for scream. Simply because we know what to expect with it.

I don't like the idea of a film starting well then dropping off a cliff.

Thanks for the input, will report back with my views.

Why ask for the advice, then go against the majority vote?

For what it's worth, if you want a horror movie you've made the wrong choice going with Scream 4 over Insidious.

The Scream movies are pretty entertaining, and there have been a few scary moments throughout the series, but they know how cliché and humorous they are, which is why I like them. :p

Such a poor decision - give me the cinema costs and Ill jump out behind the door and scare you. Dont worry Ill text/email you exactly when I will ;)...

To be fair neither fim can be called "excellent".
But then also you can say that they are both a "good watch".
Scream is really nothing new, but it's more of the same in a good way.
Insidious seems to lose it's way a little bit in the middle and goes all Poltergeist.
But it has some jumpy moments and worth a watch.

Is Scream really a horror? I haven't seen 2 or 3 however I found the original quite funny at times.

decision changed, insidious all booked.

I had the mrs pushing me towards scream initially, but I've won her over by making her read the responses on here.
