UFC 129! This Saturday 30/04!

I stayed up to watch it last night and could see it was running close to the end of the show so told my sis to record the program after as well as her boyfriend wants to see it.
Just as well it appears!

For me the PPV was all about Machida vs Couture and I really enjoyed it. I am a Machida fan and was happy with the way he took Couture out.

Couture is a legend in the sport and I am happy to see him retire. Was wondering if he intended to go on fighting until he was 50. lol.

Anyway, respect.

Nice knockout by Machida. Can't really see anyone beating LongBonesJones. Would love to see Machida vs him though. Machida is the only one I can see beating him at the moment.

shame they cut off the makdessi fight on espn to show ultimate fighter, it was brutal luckily can still see the replay of all prelims on the ufc facebook page

I am really confused by this Steven Segal thing, is he trolling or something lol it all seems so surreal.

the guy is a legend in his martial art, he can take on like 10 guys at a time and makes it look as if he int trying or it has been choreographed, the guy is a 1 man army, its like second nature to him and he makes look so easy that anybody could do.

how do you think he got so famous and was in so many movies, you have to be at the top of your game in order to do so.

arnold schwarznegger, van damme, bruce lee, jet li, etc were all at the top of their game or former world number ones when they got into movies. they dont just pick some random black belt and shove them into a movie or a random bodybuilder, only the best ever get a look in.

steven seagal in his prime would have been amazing in UFC, probably undefeated.

Lets not forget he taught Anderson Silva that front kick that stopped Belfort.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know what fight there is out there for GSP at the moment. I'd like to see Diaz have a shot, but I know it will turn into another GSP lay and pray session also. Lets just not have GSP on any more PPV's until a real challenge comes along.
Won't happen for a while. Diaz is obviously under contract with Strikeforce and Dana has said there will be no super-fights, for a while anyway.

Yeah thanks for the long rant I am more than aware of Steven Segals history thank you, that is not my point.

The kick though has been around for ages and I know he was showing it to Silva I see the video ages ago.

It's just how he seems to be lingering around and then taking partial credit for it, I mean Lyoto says;

"This kick is from Karate, it's the Kanku Dai,"
"When I started my preparation, after I did a hernia surgery, I couldn't do everything in training, so my father (Yoshizo) told me to train three or four types of kicks and use them in sparring, but very carefully, because they hurt a lot, it's like the elbow. When I came to Canada I met Steven Seagal, and he told 'Lyoto, this kick will hit.'

Segals Martial Art doesn't have a great deal of kicking does it?

It's something he seems to have already been working on anyway.

Some really good fights this weekend, it's just a shame that GSP's last two fight have been extremely dull :(. It looked just like he was out there to stop Shields beating him, instead of trying to really beat Shields.
The Diaz fight was great and not just because of the result. MacDonald looks like he'll be a really good fighter, 21 years old with plenty of time to get even better.
That was a crazy kick to the face of Couture, I guess it's an interesting way to end a career.

Watching the GSP fight, I cant help but think Nick Diaz will smash GSP at 170. GSP's stand up is pretty average when he doesnt have the shoot to keep people at bay; and Nick isnt exactly a white belt on his back. I think if a plodder like Jake Shields can do that damage to GSP, i think Nick will smash him (bold predo i know).

Also, FYI (not sure if its already been said tl;dr), Jon Jones has pulled out of the fight with Rashad due to a hand injury, so Rashad is fighting Phil Davis at 133.

As I said before, Diaz got beaten by every wrestler he faced in the UFC, and he hasn't faced any since. Sanchez/Riggs/Sherk he would get taken down and controlled the same way that those 3 did to him, GSP is not going to stand with Diaz.

Yeah Diaz has a BB but then so does GSP, Diaz doesn't have the same grappling credentials as Shields, he isn't a champion grappler or anything.

I still want to see the fight, anything can happen. But I imagine a GSP takedown and ground control clinic.

Argh ****ing virgin + box decided to stop recording the event after the 2nd round of the GSP fight :(

Agree, the man is a legend but that was a quality KO. Proper 'karate kid' crane kick :D

Ahahahahahaha, you do know that Gene Lebell made him poo himself and pass out when he was heading a stunt team that he would notoriously go too rough on, possibly to overcompensate the fact he had never won any legit martial art competition?

I am really confused by this Steven Segal thing, is he trolling or something lol it all seems so surreal.

Other team mates in Blackhouse (Machida and Silvas team) have said it is a promotional thing for Segal's new show and the consensus in general is that it's an in-joke by the Blackhouse camp. The degree to which Seagal knows it's a joke isn't clear. (he probably does not realise as he has been a bit of a joke to many his whole life)
