Osama bin Laden is dead - no graphic/violent images.

Completely different? Osama and Hitler were our enemies. So they aren't completely different. That was my point.

The face of terror has been killed, why not the patriotic Americans celebrate like they are?

Yes they killed the poster boy for Terrorism, good for them. Now who do they point to to incite patriotic feelings? They'll only get a new poster boy. Its not like they've won anything yet.

Yes, Hitler was our enemy. He was waging an all out war on a massive scale across the whole of Europe. Genocide on a scale Bin Laden could never dream of. 3000 people in 9/11? Its barely a footnote on the casualties list for WW2. People living in fear every night from air raids. Destroyed buildings left right and centre. Rationing. And so on. The death of Hitler was the assurance the world needed that we'd won the war and a time to celebrate the end of the war. The death of Osama means very little.

They didn't show Saddam being hung... someone taped it.

Ok but still the same thing though, the death of Saddam was taped and then leaked...im pretty sure with the lax american security, someone will be able to smuggle the taping of it and leak it if they really wanted to

Let's face it though- if he wasn't dead, he'd just make a video saying "I'm still alive", thus revealing that the US lied, and turning its people against the state?

So in my opinion he's dead unless proven to be alive.

Well of course he would....im still waiting for that video to pop...HAI GUYZZZZZZ!!!! still alive you useless muppets LULZ!!!!111!!!!...or something similar to that:p

Just like your opinion, i still think hes alive unless proven to be dead:)...and if he is dead then great, i wont shed any tears for a man who has caused so many deaths both muslim and non muslim.

If it was special forces who done it, and were under strict orders to be professional about the whole thing as to avoid any potential embarrassment, then I guess the lack of footage or imagery of a dead Osama is understandable.

Barack Obama has quite a squeeky clean character to maintain. Bush was a bit of a chump so would be less professional about things.

Maybe the whole operation was just handled subtly as possible.

Because they got revenge.

The difference is this raid was conducted by special forces, and thus it's less likely for there to be a leak.

Because those 'peasant masses' have no problem blowing you up.

So we should live in fear and stay inside?

Personally I along with many others believe this to be complete rubbish, they were getting on a bit hunting this guy down and then it turns out he was just down the road from them in some painstakingly obvious compound. The question for me is why choose to stage his death now?

^ Typical ocuk keyboard warrior response/devils advocate yawnfest...

If you lived in NYC at the time of it being attacked, if you lost friends or family in the attack, if your lives were forever changed as a result. If you lived in a country whose media quite effectively demonised just one man, and even more so if you lived in a country where the death sentence was such an acceptable form of justice then I think your views wouldn't be much dissimilar from those of the people pictured above. Hell, if it happened here and my family had been killed by a maniac for reasons that I could not comprehend then I'd be happily singing the news of that persons death.

Totally agree. My wife is American and she was very happy to hear the news, as was her family (who live there) even though they didn't lose anyone in the attacks, they still saw it as great news.

Because the internet doubts them!

My question is why?

He is/was just one man who worked along side hundreds.... if not thousands of other men and women. Whats to say they wont retaliate!?

Not really. If they'd of killed him in the first year, maybe two, they'd of had revenge. Killing him 10 years on its more like clearing up loose ends than getting revenge.

@Simi, Yes because I'm debating that this is good news or not

It's still a revenge killing.

Nothing, just it makes people feel better to celebrate the guys death...Everyone who has half a brain cell should know that the taliban etc will keep on going...Hence their threats after his death

I just think it wouldve been better to engage in dialogue with the man... Rather than killing him.

So we can finally find out his favourite colour? What do you think dialogue would achieve?

I didn't realise revenge had a time limit.

Is it still revenge if the person on the other side was prepared to die?

I'm sure they could have apprehended him without killing him, these guys surely had the training to disable and capture?

A bullet in the head just sounds like they didn't even try.
