just like in the last general election only 65% of the eligible people voted, the other 45% are just ignored.
Yes the 110% of the population.

I'm feeling super-lazy atm; does anyone want to give a link for the voting online bit? I might actually bother to vote if I don't have to go somewhere to do it.

Ah, so that's been quantified now...What Zefan is saying though is that it is human nature

Might want to revise your figures there mate.No not voting counts as not voting.
the winner is chosen from the people that actually vote.

if they said the non voters counted as X then that party/decision would pretty much always win.
Looks like there's an opinion poll coming out later tonight that will show the No vote at 66% (BBC Young Voters' Question Time) ...
Surprised that Cameron is so anti-AV when he would have come second in his party leadership contest without a form of AV...
FPTP
AV is for liberal lefty scum.
It is because David Cameron is a slimy politician who will use AV when it suits him and will oppose it when it suits him.
Might want to revise your figures there mate.
Also, winning in the referendum mightn't be as simple as made out... aren't there MPs saying that they'd use a low turnout to attempt to overturn a 'yes' referendum result?
One of the closest general election campaigns in a generation saw the numbers of voters rise by over 2m people on 2005 to 29.6m. The last election saw a 61.0% turnout compared with 65.1% this time.

Well yes, with AV you DO get a 2nd vote (of sorts). Being able to stipulate your 2nd preference is a 2nd vote, and so on.
He was talking about 65 + 45 =/= 100![]()

Mr McLeish said:"The No campaign represents nothing more than the protection of current MPs interests; an outdated belief in the virtues of single-party government; a pretence that this is all too much for the ordinary voter to understand, and a fear of the common-sense interests of the public to achieve a new politics.
"This is simply the desperate attempt of Britain's old political establishment - and in particular the Conservatives - to defend a broken political system. Their arguments are an affront to democracy.
"If this wasn't bad enough they have now resorted to personal attacks, fear and scare tactics and the use of misleading and distorted information."

I'm sure Mr Mcleash is very much smarter than all of us plebs but there are many that disagree with him. Personally, I think any idiot that attacks fptp lacks any respect or understanding for where its got us as a free and fair society. News flash lefties, Av will not bring your Mickey mouse fantasy world any closer to reality.
