as the title says i have two rigs in the same room and when my mate comes over on the weekend i would like to let him have a go on some off the new pc titles i have bought like....brink,bfbc2,crysis2 and have a look at teh new online games is there any way to do this ?

You can use steam on as many rigs as you like but not at the same time. Steam have also introduced a new security measure (Steam Gaurd) which you have to authorise each machine to use your steam account. All this is done via email. You can disable the feature in your steam UI, but it's recommended to keep it enabled.

Are you limited to just one offline at a time? I thought there was no limit.

You're not limited no, as there's no possible way to communicate the use of more than 1 account, it's offline. However I believe you must first log in to an account and have all the game files up to date.
Whilst it is loaded you can go into offline mode, or before you start steam disable your network adapter or simply disconnect the cable if you're not savvy enough. When you start steam it'll ask for a Retry, or Offline mode.

thanks for the replys i thought as much from now on going to have steam account for each game to solve this problem lol

A lot of games you buy through steam dont need it to run, just go to steamapps and run the games....

Really? I thought they all required steam running, except for some of the older games on offer?

Can you play steam games offline if you dont have an internet connection? Ive got a netbook and put the monkey island games on it, ive got a long distance flight coming up soon and was hoping to be able to play them, is this possible?

They dont like you using gadgets on planes, not sure if this is a old tradition that hasnt changed or if it actually poses a real danger.

But I think they would frown you to death if you played a game on your laptop, they didnt mind me using my mp3 player but not much circuitry in that.

I thought they mostly disliked it if people used things on take off and landing (because they always tell you to turn everything off) and if people used items with wireless activated (can't remember the specifics of the last bit but you should probably disable all that stuff before you go on board).

If they frown on you during the flight tell them to mind there own business. I hope i don't have to suggest you to take headphones though, i think the sound of Zombies eating plants for 3 hours would drive everyone nearby insane :D
