Would anyone recommend the brady guide book if you are a complete noob to this game?, was thinking of getting the game now its dropped in price.
Haha i got this for a friend for his birthday as a bit of a joke present. It's really nicely presented and has some decent info in it (anything with WhiteRa commenting in it can't be bad

), but honestly there are better ways to learn the game

.
You won't become 'good' at SC2 by reading a book, all it can do is tell you the basics, which can be learned through practice and talking to other people (such as the fine folk on this very forum).
Going through the campaign will teach you the basic units and control, then going on to multiplayer you'll start to learn more specifics. There are some awesome players who post on here, across all races, who have always been happy to offer great advice to people.
So if you do buy starcraft 2 and have an interest in getting into multiplayer, the best way to do it is by playing with and talking to other people. Post replays for advice, ask questions when you have problems, etcetc..
One thing I would say though is I've encountered a couple people who have expected that picking up the game, looking at some strategy guides and playing a few games will automatically make them good players. Not only is this an incorrect perspective to take, it can also be very disheartening when you dont improve. Getting good at starcraft takes time and effort, but it can be a incredibly fun and rewarding experience when you find that you've improved your game

.
My experience as a newbie: I came in new to the more competitive multiplayer RTS scene with a passing interest in the SC2 beta. Over a year later and I'm still by all considerations terrible at this game, but I'm still learning more and more and continuing to improve. As far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm still enjoying the game, I'll keep playing it
